Hi all,

Having tried to speak with SOE through the live chat as well as email (and having no luck), I'll try here.

Ever since last night when I closed my EQ2 client (to reload it) the Station Launcher is telling me that an update is being downloaded. The update time as I type this (it varies from 20 minutes to 23 hours) is currently 10 hours, 36 minutes and 25 seconds - Why is this so incredibly long?

Few factors I'll list that may help:-The installation location is correct, thus meaning no 'secondary game download' should be happening

- All files and folders were up to date prior to me closing the client

- I've attempted to use the MSconfig "Uncheck all startup applications" to see if any program was halting progress.

I'm getting extremely frustrated having to wait days before an update will finish (Although I said 10.5 hours in my post, it was 14 hours yesterday.. so even the time scale is wrong)

Any suggestions, help or solutions would be fantastic. Thanks

Magic

Yea same thing happening here also.

Station Launcher seems to think the music folder is out of date and is downloading all the files again. When I run the Old Patcher it scans and loads fine.

You'll find you can run everquest2.exe fine and get into the game.

Same thing just happened to me the day after the Erollisi stuff came out. I'd already logged in the day of the push to live and downloaded it now Station launcher is saying 16 hours as if it wants to redownload the whole game. Install location is correct, nothing has changed, no optional content checked it still does the same.

Use the EQ2 launcher it opened scanned and installed today's hotfix in seconds. Go back to station launcher... 16 hours. This needs fixed for I CANNOT leave station launcher up all day downloading and play at the same time due to the way its setup and I'd prefer to use station launcher!

Had this happen to a guildie. Nice to find out it wasn't just him. "You'll find you can run everquest2.exe fine and get into the game." Thanks and I'll pass that along to him. Hope this is fixed soon.

Some people have reported issues with the station launcher. In most cases it is possible to resolve the problem by deleting the 'Launchpad' folder before repatching. Running from the standard launchpad works around the problem as well, as you've noticed.

For some reason Station launcher is detecting it needs to download a massive amount of files. Launchpad (When the folder is replaced.) Doesn't have this issue and simply updates what is new and needed. (Since I've done it once it updates nothing just scans and goes.) This is a functionality breaker for me. I cannot leave station launcher up long enough to do what its doing. Everytime you stop it (which you have to for logging in my EQ2 Launchpad) it has to restart from the beginning.

Thanks for the swift replies all,I'm still having this frustrating issue 3-4 days in, with the 10-23 hour countdown on the launcher. Even if I TRY to run it, it disconnects and restarts. No solution has been offered as of yet, I assume? Reading through here and trying a personal mail to SOE seems to be yielding no answers.Keep me updated!Magic

I'm currently able to get into the game using either the station launcher or the regular launchpad. If you're still having trouble then I would advise removing and reinstalling the launchpad version you are having trouble with. That seems to resolve the issue for everyone effected assuming there isn't another connection related issue. Deleting the launchpad files should not remove the game and shouldn't take long to redownload. I have included links to both of the launchpad downloads below.

Station Launcher: http://launcher.station.sony.com/

Regular Launchpad: http://everquest2.station.sony.com/install

Completely uninstalling the Station Launcher and reinstalling didn't resolve the issue. When I run it, I also get the inordinately long downloads (2 hours in my case). Running the regular Launchpad worked fine, it updated in a few minutes and I was in. But since I've been trying out Station Launcher I wanted to try that again.

It's not an issue of getting into the game since bypassing Station Launcher works for us. It's an issue of the Station Launcher thinking it needs to update tons of files that don't need to be updated. I can get into the game just fine with Launchpad.

Uninstalling and reinstalling the station launcher didn't resolve the problem for me either - Running the regular launchpad loads properly however. Is there no solid solution to this problem with station launcher yet?

I've had the same problem since station launcher updated itself on Tuesday, several guild mates have reported similar problems with.

Going back to the old lauchpad works fine.

I've noticed that it takes one machine about a minute to update via Station Launcher, and the same update takes a different machine over 20 minutes or so (and sometimes it doesn't "take" so I end up updating for another 20+ minutes).

I don't know if the "didn't take" part is because I started updating while the game was in the middle of a patch, though, so take that into account.

The game's individual launcher works fine on my slow Station launchpad machine.

This has been happening for about a week now (I wasn't paying attention to the timing, unfortunately).

I also uninstalled and reinstalled Station Launcher.

I'm downloading the old launchpad right now to test, but for me it took TWO DAYS for the first patch of EQ2 (reinstalled after having not played in a year or so).

And now this most recent patch has taken almost two days aswell.

I'm on a 10Mbit connection.

EVERYTHING else downloads at good speeds.

FEAR2 is 12GB, why am I able to download that and play it in an hour and a half, but EQ2 takes longer than 24hrs to patch?

Let's see how the old launchpad works, because I remember when I used to play, everything was fine. First patch took me 6hrs the first time I did it at my old house.

Ok, so the fix for slow updating is DOWNLOAD THE OLD PATCHER.

I don't know why /Sony/ tells us that the "Beta Patcher will improve your download speeds" but that's a bunch of BULLOX.

It takes me TWO days to patch EQ2 for the first time with the patcher, almost two days for the patch yesterday, and I install the old launcher, and it's go 1 minute left, and has been taking about 20 minutes.

SOE, stop pushing your new launcher until you speed it up. You guys are stupid.

Glad I stumbled across this thread. I'm a new player...well new to EQ2 at least...and was fairly shocked over the last couple of patches the download times have been insane. I have 16mps and it was jumping between 4 hours and 12 hours so I haven't got to play much over the last week or so.

Just set up the EQ2 Installer for the first time and it's going to finish in ~1 hour...a tad better than 12

I've had this issue for days too.

edit: rebooted after installing the original Launchpad worked. Not sure if rebooting was the issue in the first place.

Just to add to the problems.... I decided to let the StationLauncher do its thing one day this weekend, got the updates downloaded (even though it seemed totally ludicrous, was the only way to continue using StationLauncher) while I was away from the PC doing other stuff, and everything has been fine... until five minutes ago. I logged out of the game, which I have been starting up fine with no updates via StationLauncher as usual since the long update (including this afternoon after the Erollisi Day stuff was turned off).

Got a message "StationLauncher has detected an update" and thought, gee, maybe they fixed the issue. Well, NO. IT's back to the long update times AGAIN. For no reason I can see, unless it's undoing everything I let it do this weekend. (The log has an entry "local cache out of sync with files".) Since I was shutting down anyway I guess I'll let it run overnight (says just under 2 hours now....), but tell me this is fixing what was wrong!

Greetings,It looks like this is a known issue with the station launcher at the moment. There is a post tracking the issue in the station launcher support forums, here:http://forums.station.sony.com/stat..._id=11500012878Since it's a problem with the station launcher then you can probably work around it by using the regular launchpad, available here:http://everquest2.station.sony.com/...m?reinstall=yesInstall it to the same directory where you already installed the game and then run the older style launchpad for now.
