View Full Version : Cannot Complete TS Epic
TheGeneral

It seems that a change in the tradeskill epic has possible broken the quest. I completed the epic today and when I went to turn it in, the NPC would not accept the quest and talked to me as if I was not done. Yet, my journal clearly says to go talk to her. The problem I think is that now the journal consumes the items when you have them made. I dont think it used to do that. Its not looking to see if I have the items in my inventory, which I do not, so I cannot complete the quest.

The same thing happened to me and a couple others this evening. I had aquired all pieces but one up until today. I commissioned the last item this evening. The quest updated but the final item was not in my inventory. I crossed my fingers and went to the npc anyway as directed by my quest. But she would not respond.

I later commissioned items for two other people and they did not receive the item in inventory either.

I think its the HIERLOOM changes that may have broken this quest. The quest was not updating when the items were removed from the shared bank, and a change was made to consume the item upon receiving it. I guess the final hand in step still assumes that you have the items in your inventory - which is no longer the case. A Petition should resolve it.

For the time being, it might be best to get your items commissioned before receiving the final quest to avoid consumption upon combine completion.

Let's hope Domino sees this and a fix goes in asap.

It will still consume them once you have the quest. I had another guildie try it who was working on theirs. The only way to finish the quest until they fix it is to actually make two of each. One for the quest to eat and one for the NPC.

.....still no response to my petition either btw. Should be easy enough for a GM to help. Until fixed all they would have ot do is give you another set of the items.

What a shame. Domino made a good try on our behalf. Who would think such a simple change would turn out to be a show stopper. You really can't tell with programming. There is always the little hidden glitch waiting for a chance to spring up at you. When I was programming back in 2006 the last Y2K bug surfaced in our software. That was fully six years after all the Y2K changes were made. It was in a piece of code that hadn't been tested because it was never accessed due to other changes that had preceded it. Then in 2006 someone undid the blocking logic and up popped Y2K (reporting some item had been bought almost 100 years before it was ordered.)

Just goes to show, no good deed goes unpunished. Thank you any Domino. I hope it isn't to hard to get this straightened out.

Quite astounding that this bug has not been found before being released. Hopefully a hotfix will be available quickly.

It took about 24 hours, but I logged in and the GM had updated the quest and I had the earring in my bag. All can be fixed via petition it seems. I do hope they get this fixed soon though, I have another tradeskiller I am about to run the epic on.

Here is another twist. Had 5 items in my bags before heirloom change went live and they all poofed although the journal does show them updated. Had one other commissioned but poofed on update. Had the last 3 made by my own crafters and passed through the shared bank. The first of those poofed and updated. However trying to drag the other 2 to my bags only gives me the option "do you wish to destroy this item". I did double check and I do still need those 2 items for updates so something is whacky.

It was not easy to get all classes crafting updates for "the proof of pudding" but finally i found nice crafters of all the classes who helped me.

Excited and happy about the fact that all work was done, i hurried to Neeta Cabbageleaf. ... but what was this? She ignored all my work and wanted me to do what already has been done.

"This needs to be petitioned", i thought and sent a prayer to the good spirits of Norrath.

Now i am waiting and waiting, in hope that this ignorant Neeta will get the spanking she deserves! - And of course in hope that i will get what i deserve for all my work.

It appears that all we must do is wait for SOE to fix he bug, but I would'nt be willing to simply rely on that to fix our individual issues. I reccommend everyone w/ this problem remain vigilant in trying to rectify the situation. I completed my TS epic the very night ALL servers went down and took a few hours to come back up. I have exactly the problem described in this thread. I've found myself shunning EQ2 every night since then, simply cheking to see if the bug has been fixed. Needless to say I'm still waiting. I refuse to delet this quest and redo it... not with all the rares consumed and pp I spent in commissioning. Patience is certainly a virtue I have yet to master.

Actually, I find it pretty sad that we have not gotten a response here at least. This is the epic for goodness sake. You would think we should have heard something by now. I have a tailor that I want to do this on now and wont until I know for sure its fixed. You know, if this were an adventurer epic quest, they would have done an emergency patch to fix it.
