Ok so you postponed the fighter changes due to the need for more changes: FINE

But I think we all can agree that taunts and their values have not kept up with the progression of increased DPS through gear for many of the classes.

My guardian is speced for um...Tanking! While that is a subjective term for me it means taking the most dmg for the group and being more or less the best meat shield I can. I sacrifice a lot of dps for it though, and rely on what the devs intended me to rely on... MY TAUNTS!

But as a guardian i fire off all 4 of my primary taunts, both ae and single target streight taunts as well as both dmg/taunt lines as well every time they come up; ON A SINGLE MOB!!! and still have to use a rescue or snearing assault or reinforcement EACH AND EVERY FIGHT!!! some times more than one and still lose agro.

Its just not right. I have almost 70% mit and avoidance in the group i usually play with so its now a matter of beign able to hold agro.

FOR THE LOVE OF BRELL can we at least get a quick hotfix to boost taunts while you sort your greater plans out with the fighter changes. Because as it stands now you cant reasonably take a guardian thats not speced for DPS into an instance and expect to hold agro.

And like everyone else with negative feedback about these fighter changes, I dont want to have my hand forced into only being able to do something one way, in this case specing a WARRIOR for dps which was never intended.

I feel your pain. I hate being forced to play a DPS roll on my tank and have actually played my healer more lately becasue it is so frustrating to try and play my guard right now. I to am tired of being forced to play the way the wanna be scouts want to play. SOE throw us a bone or something. And don't say we are working on it, give us something.

If we could just get that taunt boost that I saw on test I think that would hold us over until they release their grand fighter changes but as it stands now, most people on hard TSO instances with more than one mob will only takes SK or Pally. Which is confusing for all the b******* these classes are doing. SKs are ROCKING the dps and Pallys are amends on the assn or rangers for easy button. While i really dont mind that they do well, I as a guardian want to be able to at least hold agro. With that I would be a viable alternative for tanking some instances, but alas I end up playing my other broke class a summoner

I know plenty of Guards and I am sure you do too that have cleared every instance in this game with no problem.

I can't really feel sorry for you considering you have 70% mit and avoidance.

I agree with everything the OP said.

By rolling a Guardian you accept that DPS is secondary.....but in return you expect that threat generation via taunts and such is primary.

That is not the case currently on live.....I sacrifice DPS by being a Guardian yet the game requires DPS from tanks for aggro.

I can be grouped with a tank geared/speced for DPS and generating hate entirely via DPS and I who am geared/speced for raw threat can spam my taunts/CAs and auto-attack all day long and never pull aggro...its only if I use Reinforcements or the like that I snap it.

We need fighter revamp 1.5....which is to give us the boost to taunts and taunt crits.

I agree that it sucks that as "defensive tanks" we have to play like berserkers to hold aggro, but that's the way the game is right now. Fighting it by running a heavy defensive spec for heroic content isn't going to do you any good.

If you've got 70% mitigation and avoidance with group buffs, then you almost certainly have better gear than I do. You also say you're running with a regular group (which makes me wonder why you complain about whether pugs will let you tank). With both of these being the case, why are you still specced and equipped so heavily for defense?

Until and unless things change, you need to weigh your dps as a very important factor in threat generation. I don't like being forced into an arms race with assassins and warlocks, either, especially considering my class isn't built for high dps in the first place, but that's the way it is - dps is threat, and deliberately neglecting your dps means you are deliberately neglecting your threat generation.

The tank debate is raging across several threads.

Please let's not spread it further

Let's keep the discussion in the already very lively threads! (Lest they get lonely and sad!)

Thanks!
