On this computer I normally play the game on High Quality unless I'm in a pretty busy area. It runs very smooth but every now and then the graphics will just kind of go to crap. I can go in move it to balanced and back up and everything looks fine again. Anyone know a reason why it is doing this? Since it runs so smooth on those graphics I don't think it is over doing it but I could be wrong. I've noticed that it will do this alot of I go form first person to third person.

Thanks,Chris

(( Speaking of graphics, has anyone else noticed that in certain areas of the game, even with graphics MAXED out completely, everything might look pretty sub-par or yawnworthy, whereas in other areas of the game things are still freaking awesome looking?

I notice alot of the blah-areas show up in expansion zones....

my theory is that the specular and normal maps only really show up when there is a dynamic light present. Dynamic lights are performance hogs, so they arent all that common...

without specular and normal maps showing, everything is just plain and only shows diffuse color textures.. things dont look 'real' with any kind of surface properties...

without spec and normal maps, things look like EQ1 again =/

Mind you, this is only in some areas. Certain areas like inside Cities have an abundance of light sources and things seem to look noticeably better.

Might also be the sunlight as well, areas with little or no sunlight appear considerably blah due to the lack of shadows...

true, i play on max, and some areas make me go "OOOO PRETTY", other areas just make me go "eh, ps2 can do that"

the "OOOO PRETTY" places include (imo) flying through the volacano mountain in Jarsath Wastes, flying most anywhere in Timorous Deep, the entire Palace of Ferzhul, and some other places i forgot atm.
