Greetings to my fellow Mystics

I just started up EQ2 again and decided to try out the Mystic class this time. I absolutely love it! I have made it to my 16th season so far.

What brings me here today is I am a bit confused over our AA lines. I have only spent 1 point thus far, that being for the pet. It seems most people advise putting the first points into the line which turns spells into melee attacks. I am unsure if that is what I should do however. I will rarely be soloing as I play with a regular group of friends that I came back to EQ2 with. They are Dirge, Guardian and Wizard. So I will, for the most part, be the sole healer.

Should I still go down the spells to melee attack line regardless? Or should I opt for something more fitting of my situation? Any advice would be most appreciated.

Not only does it let you do more damage but it also lets you get CA's before you would normally get the spells. If you don't want to do this I would suggest Agility first. Not to finish out if you are not planning on "battle mystic" but to get 8 in Agility 4 for the heal crit. just my amaturish 12 cps

Well there arent "really" that many heal AA's out there, because wards tend to have higher amounts than heals we dont get the heal AA's or we risk being overpowered. The heal AA's that are out there have to do with cast/reuse and generally buffs for the group. After 120 AA's (in the shadows line) you start to see some actual heal AA's.

I would advise going down what works for you, when I leveled my mystic I found myself playing MT/second highest dps/sole healer in a group setting as a melee spec. I also find it boring just to be hitting "ward/groupward/ward/heal" to keep people going, I like being in the action while still being a good healer.

I would also advise you start in the mystic tree converting your combat spells to CA's because of the end line. You simply take way to many hits to hard, and if your solo healing it becomes even more important. Many mobs have AE auto attack and hurt to much without that 7.5% parry.
