I have been trying to log into the game off and on all day but the game will drop me back to the character selection screen after hanging up at "Loading Character to Zone" step. I've tried alt characters and failed all except once late this morning when for some unexplained reason and old alt in Gorowyn was able to log in. But the latency was so brutal that the game was unplayable.

I waited and tried again tonight but still unable to log in with any of my characters.

This started Wednesday night after playing just fine for a few hours in Enchanted Lands. I was trying to finish off a City Writ type quest. Guildies had been complaining about really bad lag especially in combat but I hadn't noticed much. I did notice that BPS was extremely erratic. Guildies saw the same thing on their end. FPS was good, ping was OK and packet loss of good. Finally my in-game combat commands became unresponsive and I eventually died. I never got the "release" browser button, even after waiting over 5 minutes. I was just looking at my corpse at the feet of the Runnyeye Goblins that killed it. I finally had to "X" out of the game.

Is there a known problem over the last couple of days? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I tried rebooting the cable modem and it did help. Bytes Per Second is still erratic but it is better and the game is playable again.

It could have simply been a modem hiccup, but if it has an integrated router then it might be blocking some portion of the game's connection. If that's the case, you might want to use the following site to make sure the router is configured correctly:

http://www.portforward.com/english/...routerindex.htmSimply select the router you are using then select Everquest 2 on the next page. You will then be presented with a walkthrough on how to forward the correct ports. Please respond if you need any further assistance.
