View Full Version : How well can you get geared up at L80 just off the broker?

I'm closing in on 78 now and I have all 72 MC and legendary everywhere else. My guild is young, so I spend about half my time mentoring and the other half soloing and harvesting to save up money. I want to start doing more instances and eventually raid, but I'm skittish about jumping in right now because I figure the chances to screw up are greater with the equipment I have, being new to instances and with only 113 AA (didn't get #1 until I reactivated my account at level 40). I've read a fair amount here about what spells and progressions to use and read a few walkthroughs to get an idea of what to expect, so I'll at least be going in with some knowledge of what needs to be done.

I'd like to get to 80 with about 150 plat saved up (about 60 now but it's speeding up) and get the best gear/spell upgrades I can so I'll at least not get creamed form being way too underequipped. Many of the fabled or good legendary items I've seen are no-trade and I imagine a decent fabled item would be around or over 100 plat anyways so I couldn't afford those upgrades, but are there some decent items that can purchased that will allow me to at least not appear too ill-equipped to an average PUG on an instance?

Thanks all for any advice here. It's always much appreciated.

Believe it or not you get some very nice upgrades pre TSO stuff from the ROK solo questlines. Mainly the jewelry, but there are some very decent armor pieces that my temp picked up until he was able to do ROK dungeons more frequently and then TSO. If you haven't gone thru the timelines yet then you should. Your next step would be to hit the ROK dungeons. As for the broker I never found much better than just MC stuff, maybe occasionally a decent piece would pop up but seems like the vast majority of stuff is no trade.

On Befallen there are almost nightly PU raids for lower ROK raids. Also running TSO instances would get more shard gear that will help if you can't spare the time raiding. Everyone likes a templar so finding a group shouldn't be too hard. I often have to park my main to get my templar as we need healers.

Also most fabled items are NO-trade. best just to run the instances and join PU raids. Most guilds are running VP and fewer running TSO. So most PUs have mythicaled peeps or exp raiders. There are a couple of guild on my server are doing PUs just to help non raiding guilds get myths. All for free.

Honestly, you would be better off using that money to make sure all your spells are at Adept III or better, and start joining shard runs. The T1 set is decent, and the T2 is even better. And the jewelry is nice as well. If you have some friends around your level on your server that group together will be safer than an all-out pick up group, which can be very, very evil sometimes lol.

I would also concentrate on getting all off your spells to Ad3 quality, run through the RoK and TSO questlines to get the best armour you can from those then , once you are 80, try and get your epic weapon and start running the void zones.

Along with the void shards for your armour, you will probably get a few looted upgrades and you will also probably see a few masters drop that you can use.

There are plenty of PUGs running the TSO instances, but the bext method would be to find a group of people to run with regularly, im sure there are plenty of guilds out there where you could find some others to run with.
