This isn't an EQ question, but I'm familiar with these boards...

I'm putting a brand new motherboard in my girlfriend's PC. Her PC originally came with XP, she then upgraded to windows vista home premium. Will a new motherboard require me to purchase windows vista again?

I've Re-built machines before for a tech support company and I've replaced motherboards of the same model and was able to keep all the data on the hard drive. However this will be my first installation of a new board (of an entirely different company) and I'm not sure if I'll be able to get around activating vista.
