Both for casters and melee. That would make fighters more viable in a non-tanking role. Have those bonuses cancelled unless grouped (or just not affect the fighter themself) so as not to impact solo play.

One small example of this might be to allow Paladins a free group heal or grant additional divine damage as a group proc after using certain CA's when used in offensive stance. Or guardians to proc a brief group ward or give enhanced crush/slash/pierce skill to the group as a temporary buff when using certain CA's in offensive stance.

Or even just enhance the affects already on many CA's when used in offensive stance.

That way defensive stance would become "tank stance" and offensive stance would become "DPS/Utility stance". That's kind of where they should be heading to make this work.

However, the BIG problem long-term will be changing people's perceptions. Many people refuse to see fighters in any other role than "tank". Getting them to accept a fighter as DPS or Utility will be difficult. Also it blurs class-lines dangerously.. "Hi there, I'm a plate-wearing high-mit/avoid monster with 18k health that deals 6-10k DPS and provides utility as well". Can see that not going over too well with squishy cloth wearing mages.

I don't envy the mechanics/balance team at SoE.

I mean their basic explanation for what is going on with GU51 is that fighters should be tanks....they tank and do nothing else. Not only that, how they tank is not really up to the player.....SOE says to tank you need to be in D-Stance........period.......end of story........no options.........doesnt matter how well geared you are or how trivial the content may be...

I do think a slight boost the the offencive stance of guardians may be good so it gets slightly more on par with the pallies. But it still would need to not go over 10% or so. (guards having a bit more def effects they need a bit less dps in off stance anyway).

For the def thing. the overall hate increase is so enormous that the loss in dps can be concidered a more than fair trade.

Now, you still can tank in off stance against easy stuff. But to do that, you need to engage with no stance, put a few taunts in then go for offensive. It requires a bit more management of your stance but it can definitly be done and works quite well. 10% dehate can easily be countered if you taunted before. And if stuff is that easy, if your groupmates aggro around the end mob should die fast enough to not be a problem. (at least for groups)

In raids, if you really wanna focus on dps while tanking, you'll need to switch a few times from off stance to no stance to put in some taunts...if you're too lazy to do it, just go def stance and stop whinning about your dps.

The only big problem I see right now with the stances, and more precisely about the recast timer, is that of the 2nd tank when MT dies. For that matter 5 seconds to go from off stance to deff stance is really long.
