pls check the gazillion AA/Spec postings in this board before opening another one

i see 4 of them, discussing solo/group/raid specs alone on the first page.

@gear: as mystics can buff melee stats quite nicely, go for wis, int, +heal, +combat damage, something like this, definitely not str or agi.

Well i tried to read them, but i cant find to much useful for me since most are already players who have a high level character and want help. Im fresh out, and have no knowledge at all.

I need basic help with AA, and help with the class. Shall i use 2h weapons or 1h and shield for example?

For melee spec, go for all the str you can get. Str = more dps. You can get str and wis on a lot of gear together, which is nice. You want to go with a 2-hander, as well. Don't look at the damage rating though. Look for the biggest spread in range of damage. You want the biggest hits you can get, which will mean a slower delay, but that's ok. It makes it easier to time your combat arts (when you get them) and debuffs in between your auto attacks.

For AAs, in the Mystic tree, max out your combat arts and get Weapon Mastery endline. Then, work your way down the AGI line, in the Shaman tree, and max out your melee crit and finish the line to get Tribal Rage (I think that's the name).

From there, either work on STR line, in the Shaman tree, for nice pet bonuses, or the buffs line, in the Mystic tree.

If i go for the Pet-stuff after the weapon mastery endline, will i [Removed for Content] my DPS much? Im a sucker for having pets. But i have no idea how useful the pet is.

there are nice APs for the dog in both the TSO and the Shaman tree, but combat line in both shaman and mystic line should be top priority as it will save you also a bunch of money as you dont have to upgrade your damage spells

Initially when playing a lower level toon, one thing I have noticed on both my battle mystic and inquisitor, is that mobs will probably parry/riposte more when they are even con+. You can even miss more often. Which means that there are longer recast times for no damage.

So you may want to invest in upgrading spells still, as your mob can only resist a spell or get hit with it. (1/2 chance to do/not do damage) as opposed to block/riposte/parry/miss a melee attack (1/4 chance to hit). Granted, the CA versions do more damage, but your spells have a longer reuse time, which can hurt your rythm and your heroics.

First if you go the CA route you can potentially get high damage and AE CA's before you would be able to cast the spells in terms of level, also spells can be interrupted, its almost impossible to interrupt a CA witha 0.5 second cast time. Also your CA's do not hit based on your spell skills so at least at lower levels your resist rate can potentially be higher than at higher levels because of your disruption skill (or lack there of). I found that if I sic'd dog sog on the mob and then debuffed while he"tanked" the mob was dead easy to hit with CA's and this was most efficient.

Also CA's at 5 do more damage than Master I spells and I could save my money so that when I hit Tier 8 I could jump right into buying AIII's of all my spells for those times in a group or raid where I have to be at range for whatever reason. Admittedly my entire idea here was long term thinking "what do I do to be able to jump head first into the game when I hit tier 8" and that colored my thoughts big time. Then again one of the AA threads was started by me so clearly I still have some stuff to learn.

There are a million AA threads find one and start playing with it on your toon

As for dps..... dont forget in the end your still a healer, HEAL 1st and foremost, secondly think like a scout. gear up like one, find a balance between +cast speed and +heal amount on wards/heals and as much +dps gear as possible

roll a mystic on a PVP server if you really want to learn how to play the class, the bluebies dont know their head from their [Removed for Content]

The Mystic pet is not very useful as far as damage go's. If you really want to play a melee/healer hybrid you might enjoy the Warden.

Mystics can still out dps melee spec'd wardens pretty easily.

Aslong as you always plan to have an extra healer for the harder groups then Melee Mystic is totally fine.

How ever like most my replies... When your asked to group outside of your normal group routines.. You will be expected to heal over dps.

Shaman tree:

Str, Agi and Wis lines (Wisdom for End spell but you can omit for full STR/AGI if you perfer)

Mystic tree:

Augment and Combat (You'll want to max group buffs no matter what AA spec you go)

As a Mystc you do get STR buffs so try to plain your armor around what you get from buffs and work from there.

My only tip is to remember that you are a healer and scout armor goes to scouts first.
