the new gathering animation (for roots at least) for ratonga's causes the tail to stick out straight like pinocchio's nose. it's perfectly straight, and no movement at all, and is rather annoying. i'll upload a picture later today if no one else does.

i'm just posting this while at work (i HATE weekend shifts), so i don't have time to look through all the other posts. i just thought i'd post this incase it hasn't been posted yet.

EDIT: forgot to say that the animation doens't work right either. you click to gather, then your char does maybe 9 frames of the animation, stands, then goes to the gathering animation without any in-between animations.

both of those are quite bad bugs, and if a first-time eq2 player saw it, they'd certainly not think good of them.

EDIT: here's a vidoe of the 2 problems (no sound)

take notice of how the tail shoots straight out, as well as the odd animation-stand-animation bug

<[Removed for Content]"application/x-[Removed for Content]" width="425" height="344" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/YQ_GdkUY-JI&hl=en&fs=1">

Maybe ratongas just get really excited when they are gathering roots?

here is a video i made showing it. the video was originally 350mb, but i reduced it to 256kb.

it's 16 seconds, and shows the tail + animation bug from 2 angles. there is no sound to it, i disabled that

take notice of how the tail shoots straight out, as well as the odd animation-stand-animation bug

<[Removed for Content]"application/x-[Removed for Content]" width="425" height="344" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/YQ_GdkUY-JI&hl=en&fs=1">

Okay, not taking into account that down-up-down glitch, just looking at the tail animation.

That actually just looks like the animation for Ratongas on a carpet or when crouching. Ratongas on a carpet are in the partial crouch, as when a den is harvested, and their tails do stick straight out. When my little Ratonga Swash goes into sneak mode, her tail is straight out as well.

The new gather animation looks like the animation for harvesting a den has been modified a bit.

Not saying that there's nothing wrong, just what came to mind when I saw the vid.

The only thing that looked wrong was the down-up-down. As far as I can see the tail looks ok to me. And yes, I have a ratonga that I love.

yes people, on the carpet and crouching it stick straight out, but it MOVES.

when gathering on test, it's MOTIONLESS.

if they made it wag/move like they do on crouch/carpet mounts, i'd be just fine with it.

but also the stand/gather/stand glitch needs to be fixed asap

yea, i'm probly 99.99% sure this is a glitch of the new animation, and unintended.

however, i hope it gets enough attention by ratonga fans so that they will fix it, and not just ignore it.

i don't want the tail wagging animation to be screwed up when gathering forever like cloth simulation on mounts probly will be.

It's true that real rats don't move their tails much unless they are walking, moving w/e. But ratongas don't have huge tails like rats either, if a real rat tried moving their tail like that all the time they would be knocking everything over.

Their muscles in their back tense up to support their forward body movement and thus their tail does not move or even wiggle its "motionless" I think its a great attention to detail that should stay. I am sorry you disagree with the motionless movement while gathering, but if you spent time watching animals you would now that in the real world that is how their bodies work. J

So “technically” it is not a bug, now as far as the quick transition from standing position to the harvest position you are on to something there, but as far as the tail goes, as a snake and pet owner leave that one be. I rather like it.

still though, it looks horrible. and tbh, i highly doubt that the SOE animators took rl rat tail movements into consideration for any of the ratonga race.

Secondly it doesn't mean a designer took time to examine a rat like a scientist. It just takes any observant and caring pet owner. Also if you have noticed this is the only new animation added, the foresting and mining animations for example haven't been touched so maybe they did take time to think of how detailed they wanted to be with each race for this single animation change. Now as far as the iksar tail going through the ground for this new gathering animation. That you can say looks horrible.

If they are going to make this realistic than can they please fix the animation of the tail while running? It looks terrible the way it goes straight down and doesn't move except to occasionally twitch back and forth in only two frames in a really glitchy way.
