What settings do you have eq2 at? The issue you are having is one I usually associate with an overheating Graphics card. Do you get the symptoms as soon as the game loads or does it take a few minutes to start showing them?

On a side note the 8400GS is a very underpowered graphics card. Your 6800 (assuming a 6800GT) would have offered about 30% better performance than the 8400GS.

Silat of Nagafen

I know that the older card being better seems weird, but unfortunately the graphics card manufacturers like to play games with their naming schemes. New cards can overheat, especially if put under extreme load for the card. Here's a link to a benchmarking chart that will give you some help.

http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/...4-v1-6,743.html

Silat of Nagafen

Lately, this game has had a nasty little habit of overheating high performance pc equipment, its hogging up more and more memory...and has been the cause of extreme heat build up in higher end rigs. Leading to high end systems crashing constantely, or forcing your system to run the game in low res mode, after 5 minutes of play. Basically, the crappier your pc, the better it performs under the current architecture.

Makes perfect sense, doesnt it? Of course, just know that when this ill-programmed game eventually fries your rig, it wasnt SoE's fault, you mustve just never cleaned out your system, or had enough fans running...being the standard issue response...

This is an SoE/EQ2 problem, it has NOTHING to do with 3rd part manufacturers. Theres something seriously wrong with the power consumption/memory usage of this game, but good luck trying to get a straight answer from a Sony Rep. All you'll get is, (try debilitating system security in order to run a 5 year old game), nonsense. Cut back on current programs...play the game in high performance mode, get extra fans...have I missed something SoE...?
