I am at the Chardok part of the epic quest and I have to go to the library and hit a switch to open the doors to the hidden part to get the 3 stones.

I have read that bruisers can solo this part of the quest

I have gotten to the library and unable to use the switch without dieing there is a named standing a few feet away from the switch.

Am i doing something wrong or do I need to do something to hit the switch without dieing.

I have read that there are 2 books on the second floor of the library I need to get do i need to get them first to open the door if so where at on the second floor. Will these books enable me to use the switch without dieing.

Sorry about all the questions about this, most of the guides are very vague about this part.

Any help here to get past this part would be great.

Yes you can do it solo, i did it solo with MC 72 gear on... so i know it can be done, that being said, its rough and tough and takes a while...

The books you have to get are in the library up stairs when it splits up on either side of the staircase that goes down to the named mob and the hidden door.

You have to collect all 3 ( i believe) of the books to open the hidden door

The switch you need to hit behind the named mob does not need the books... The books are required to give the "ghost" mob directly behind that door that opens up a hidden hallway that he walks through.. you have to follow him through both doors and into the next area, those doors shut bhind you and are one way only... meaning you can exit that area, but if you do, you have to go get the 3 books again to give to the ghost to get you in...

That is where it gets tricky... what i did to combat that problem (the problem of me dying inside that hidden room) is that i brought a guild raid flag with me to put inside that room, so if i died, i could respawn outide and call back to guild hall and take the guild raid flag back inside the room...

To get passed the named is tricky and takes quite a bit of luck and skill to do... i believe you can get to behind the named where the 2 adds are, and FD off to one side, near one of the mobs... i dont think it will aggro the boss from there.. and when you "X" you mez or fear the closest mob and hit the switch from there, run to the hall and FD>.. give the ghosts the books and have your raid flag handy

its a tricky part to do solo, but its a much trickier part to find a group to get to do with you... as SOE made chardok the worst zone in the game by far... very few nameds and a whole lot of hassle to get to where you need to go... and of course in PVP servers, open to PVP so you can get to the end and get ganked and have to start all over... lame imo..

I know some have claimed to have done it solo, and I'm sure some have but realistically, it aint going to happen. I spent upwards of a month (off and on) trying to do it solo and never had any luck. It is completely frustrating to do and with so many points of failure, one little mistake (failed FD, double crit attack by a mob, lag spike, etc.) and it's back to the drawing board. I eventually got a group together to go do it but this part was the hardest part to get through in the entire quest. I, like you, had made a similar post asking if/how to do it solo since I had heard much the same talk as you. In that thread, a couple people said they did it solo but resoundingly the opinion was that you're better off being patient and trying to get some help. That's just my opinion for whatever it's worth Good luck, fellow Bruiser, I hope you get through it soon.

When I first did my epic, I ended up getting a group to go with me; not because I didn't have the capacity to FD through Chardok, but because I didn't have the gate keys to the blue and red gates at the time.

However, since then, I have done FD runs through deep Chardok on more than one occasion. I've specifically had to run a flag to the library (for getting a group there for dirge epic), and also had to run a flag to the Queen (for other various epics), and as such I know it can be done.

I recommend, if you have the opportunity, hit Stone Deaf and Inner Focus followed by a running-jump-FD to the switch. If you do that, hopefully you can get up to the switch without getting hit, with Stone Deaf and Inner Focus still ticking. Once FD is ready again, can stand up and try to hit the switch. If you get hit by something while trying to hit the switch, hopefully Stone Deaf or Inner Focus will keep you from dying. That's what I had to do to get past the switches. It is tricky though, since the nameds hit like a truck.

If you can get far enough to at least drop a flag at a nearby safe spot, even if you're unable to get past that switch, you might be able to convince a group to come down and help you get past the switch (people are far more willing to help when there's a flag already in Chardok).

I didn't mean to suggest you hadn't - sorry if it came across that way. For some reason I have an insane amount of FD failures in that zones so I was dying everytime I got really deep. I did most of the strats you suggest as well but still was on the unfortunate end of bad luck. Also, I would mention that when I attempted this, it was before guild flags were in the game so when I died it was start over time. It was also before they had implemented the newer respawn point in the castle area so every death mean starting from the very beginning and I just got fed up with spending all the time getting close to the goal and having to start anew each time. I can see where having the flag would make doing this much more pallatable. Take care.

Raid flag is a must once you get into that door, or else you have to get the books every time you die... so join a raid with a guild flag and do it solo if you cant get a group

Thanks guys for all of the information. I have been able to get past the switch to the other side of the wall once. But that was because the name wasnt there that guards the switch just to 2 adds. I was only able to get one of the stones before my FD failed. My guild doesn’t have a raid flag so I cant use that I wish I could. I did notice that in the room where the first stone is that the wall was closed is there another switch to open this wall or am I just missing something.

Thanks again for all the help.
