I have searched everywhere for an answer to this, but I'm not finding anything. I have no problems running in windowed mode, but as soon as I click full screen, my screen goes black. I can still hear sounds, and I have to CTRL+ALT+DEL to get out of it, so it's not really a crash (which there are plenty of topics/posts about that).Intel 95504 GB RAM4870x2 ATI (latest drivers, as well as tried with previous versions)Vista 64I've run the Direct X tests and have no issues. I don't have this problem in any other game, and I've tried many different settings within EQ2, but nothing allows me to play in full screen mode. I'm in my 14 day trial, and if I can't get it fixed, it's a deal breaker for me. Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Well, I've got this fixed, though I don't know how (I think it might have to do with uninstalling RivaTuner).But, now I've got a bigger problem. Approx. every 5 min. I crash to desktop. Man, if it's going to be this hard to get this to run right, I don't know that it's worth it, even though I really want to give this game a shot.

Update - I am able to run the game without any crashes when I'm in windowed mode. Only when I go to full screen do the crashes start to happen. The only thing I'm able to do when it happens is do a hard reset - there are no error or crash files that I'm aware of since there are no popups.I can do a dxdiag file if that will get someone to actually respond, but with this issue only happening in full screen mode and not happening with any other game (WoW, Mass Effect, Crysis, Witcher, NWN2), something tells me there is a fix in the graphics settings that I have that may fix this. But, there are so many settings, I would be interested if anyone else is having this problem and might have a suggestion.I really want to give this game a shot, but if I can't run it in full screen mode, I will not play it past my trial.For the record - hard drive is defragged, drivers are updated, norton 360 is up to date, etc, etc, etc.Gray

Without a specific error message to work from, we'll definitely need some of the DXdiag/MSinfo information. Crashing when switching to full screen is not an error we see often in this game. That's fairly stange and you have Norton installed, which could be the cause of the problem. Generally when something weird is happening and Norton is installed, you can safely assume that Norton has something to do with it.

Nope - I disabled Norton and things actually ran fine for the longest yet...approx. 10 min. But, still the same crashes. Hmmm I am in a very familiar situation actually....Bought a very new pc with same card as you (6gb mem though), and most likely same MB - but can check later if you like....Orginally I couldnt run EQ2 in full screen - it just went black - but then I fiddled with ProfitUI and EQ2 settings (not sure which first) - to get the screen res to match my 22 inch 1680 x 1050... At one point I couldnt switch in eq2 from 1280x760 (you know the exact numbers), but eventually it let meDo you have a screen of this type?While everything now looks absolutely fantastic with no slowodwn etc with the new pc - every 10 mins or so in full screen mode it just crashesMight see how it goes in windowed mode, although dont want to play it like tha tlike you dont eitherHave you had any further luck since your last post?Cheers

Nope, no luck since my last post. I have a 28" monitor, so I can run up to 1900x1200. I've tried many different resolutions and all have the same crash problem. Sometimes, it just freezes and my speakers whack out. Other times, it freezes with no sound or a looping sound. And still others, it just black screen. I played for quite awhile yesterday in windowed mode and still have no problems with that, but I do not want to continue to have to play in that mode. Very frustrating.

Try changing your graphics settings to be significantly lower and see if it takes longer to crash than usual. If so, then it might be a memory issue. If that is the case then we'll probably want to run a stress test on the RAM to see if that is causing the issue.

Doesn't matter what resolution I use - it will crash randomly. Longest it's gone is 10 min. I have a hard time believing it's hardware related since I have none of these issues with any other game I play (and most are more demanding). My computer runs those games without crashes.This really sucks because this is a deal breaker for me. As much as I want to purchase the game, I can't do so with something so fundamental as full screen not working properly.
