I want to help her but I cannot due to it no allowing anyone else in. could you please share strats and tips on how you killed this mob. sorry i dont have the name but from asking around i am pretty sure you guys wouls know what i am talking about. what pet did you use? did you use god spells? any information you can share would be appreciated. she has gotten alot of bad advise from 1337! players who say "oh just burn it down you only need 6kdps ect..." that is great but really not helpfull to 90% of players out there. Please help me help her. She is very frustrated and so am I because there is nothing else I can do but cheer her on.

The advice your friend got is utter crap, because this fight isn't even remotely about the conjuror's ability to dps. It's all about being able to strafe around in a circle and being quick on the targetting. If you have good reaction time and a solid ISP it can be done by an conjuror wearing treasured gear and apprentice level spells.

There's a write-up of it on this very page, look up top in the sticky area under EPIC QUEST. I researched this fight quite a bit before attempting it and swore I'd be one of the conjies that nailed it on the first try. Even being well prepared it took me 4 attempts before I claimed victory. There's really nothing you can do but give the various strategies a go and expect to crash and burn a couple times until you find the one that works best for you. /salute to anyone who got it on their first attempt.

Also, check out the writeup on wikia. They list numerous tips and strategies, that's where I looked myself before doing it back in the days. I see they now have a LOT of alternative strategies, so look over them, and pick the one that fits the most your own playstyle I say.

I don't remember the details of the exact strategy I used, but I think I recall having taking care of preserving my power so I wouldn't run out of it near the end. I think I concentrated a lot on pet healing during a good part of the fight, so it might help for you to use a more defensive AA spec. I remember I spent most of the fight standing on the same spot, I might have done some kiting only near the end of the fight.

I do recall however that most of the DPS came from my pet and from one of the elements, so I don't think that advice to go full burn is a good one. Save power to heal your pet instead, and rely heavily on the elements to do the most of the DPS.

i just did this not to long ago, i did it without a pet. start off by quering the named at the beginning of the fight, then just kite the mob around in a big circle when he targets a element query and dominate it. after you already queried them all 1 time you only need to dominate them the rest of the fight.

at 10% he starts spamming elements, this is the part that took me a wile. had trouble targeting so couldnt keep up.

when he's at 1% dominate him and you win

Yeah the last 10% gave me some toruble as well when he started spamming the air element, stifling me to no end. Then i realized that tab targeting was your friend and that i could tab and dominate the element instead of trying to manually click it lol.

I have been gone for a couple of months, but let me try to help your friend out as best as I can. Tell your friend to pull out her tank pet. The tank pet can go in a defensive stance. Make sure to always use vehement skin (if that's what it is called. I'm at work) as much as she can. When she first initiates combat I would start with winds of velious, the fire dot, and one of the dumbfire pets. behind the zone in and send my pet in to do some damage. Now keep in mind that she does not need to unload a heavy amount of DPS at any given time. Tell her to kite (or run the mob around) to her left if she was facing the mob from the entrance. At this point the mob will turn and you have to go dominate and query. Remember, you only have to use dominate the first time per element. You might run into a mana problem so keep your shards up and take a potion with you for health and regen. As soon as the mob turns around back your pet off and use tab to on your keyboard to target the element. Make sure that you put your abilites on a Hot Button and it will be best if you press a number right next to each other such as 3 and 4 so it goes one after the other.

I believe I also used the Totem of the Chokidai for a run boost. (It may have not functioned during combat, but incase it did).

You do not have to have your tank spec. And you do not have to go crazy on the dps. Just play strategy. Dominate and Query for sure everytime. Expect to find yourself running almost at all times.

I spent a whole entire night trying that, literally till daybreak. Then a buddy gave me some good advice. Respec to get animist bond. Use tank pet with all the defensive stuff. Then, get into a good position, far enough back to see all the elementals. And still have line of sight on pet and Phrotis. Do the Query on Phrotis right at the beginning, make sure you have query and dominate on a prominent hotkey. Tab target all through the encounter, only need to query each thing first time. Let pet do everything on Phrotis, send communion whenever its up, heal and harden your pet whenever you can. I never moved from my spot so position at the beginning was key for me. Find the zone out spot ahead of time so if the thingies get ahead of you, you have the chance at not dying. After I got the advice, took me 4 tries to pin it down and Voila! Make sure you are in 3rd person so you can zoom your camera back if you need to, to see everything.

He moves ultra slow.

Tab target the other elements ahead of time to query, then just kite him in a circle, pet or no pet. (I'd say spec for Hydromancer if you felt you couldn't keep away from him, then you'll have a healer following you.)

Get used to tab targeting and dominating the elements as he activates them. (You will see him turn to face the one he's trying to wake up)

Took me 3 tries total. First try I was still learning the event. Second try my kids hit my elbow and I ran off the cliff. Third try I just kept away from him and it was easy. (Just be careful when you are kiting that you don't get too far from the center so you can dominate the elementals. The elementals you dominate will DPS him down for you.)

This really is a great fight IMO. Basically follow the script and it will be easy

I tried and died twice trying the stand in one spot meathod before i actually readjusted a few things. Here is the meathod that worked for ME. Your results may vary.

If you don't know how to tab target while strafing in reverse, this strat may not work well for you without some practice doing so.*

Before the fight, spec for the tank pet obviously, then increase the font size in your chat window so his emotes will be really easy to notice. While i didn't use Animist bond, it wouldn't be a bad idea just in case.

I used a circular kiting meathod.

Query at start then send tank pet in. Let him get aggro, pull back and WATCH very carefully for the emotes!!

Keep moving away from Protis along the edge of the island thingy, if he gets too close for comfort /pet attack, run away, /pet retreat or call servant.

You only have to Query ONCE per element, If not sure if you got a specific one, do it again.

If you miss one, the air one in particular, the pad will send you back to the safety of TG.

Relax and try to get in the rythm of the encounter. The tab key is your greatest friend, keep it going round and round with your finger on the dominate trigger.

The elements are the greatest focus. I did not personnally cast any damage beyond pet buffs and aggro helpers on Protis, in fact the only things i did cast during the fight where pet heals, stoneskins, the pet taunt and Query/Dominate.

Concentrate on the elements and keep a wandering eye on Protis.

Best i could tell or remember, Protis has a ton of HP, even going all out with personal DPS isn't going to do near the damge as a missed emote/dominate.

* Note: tab will only cycle through tagets in your field of view, so keep all elements in your field of view at all times.

I just completed this last night and I found the tips from Squis on the EQ2 Wiki page (http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Conjuror_Epic_Weapon_Timeline , last set of "more tips" as of this post) to be the best, although it's hard to follow it exactly. I never died, but I did zone out 3 or 4 times to reset until I finally completed it.

In terms of preparation, it definitely helps to make the /target_next_npc macro instead of tab-targeting. And Querying Phrotis before the event even starts should work, although I Queryed him again on the initial pull just to be safe. Finally, if you use ProfitUI or your chats are in different windows, make sure to have focus (or pay attention to) the one that has emotes! I found it much easier to not watch for Phrotis' head to turn, but to watch for his emote and then immediately target the next elemental with my macro.

The key for me in Squis' strategy was the fact that setting your pet on "Anchor" puts it in out-of-combat healing, which I hadn't realized before. Since Phrotis moves so slow, when my pet would get down to around 60% I would just have it follow me and back off, then anchor it in a new position, then when Phrotis got close to it I would send it in to attack again to get aggro (since Dominating the elements does add aggro to you). I started on one side, then would rotate 90 degrees around the urn, re-anchor, etc. I still threw some heals out to the pet, especially early on when you have a while to wait for an element to be ready to Dominate.

I got lucky my final try and got the Fire element a few times in a row...I don't think I even moved my pet a full rotation around the urn. Phrotis went from 35% to 20% to 8% very fast, and then I Dominated him and it was done (definitely not down to 1%). I never had to use Plane Shift or the Caduceus (and I don't have Animist's Bond). I would have used them, though, if this hadn't happened, because the speed-up in emotes below 30% is really hard to work around if you are still moving your pet.

I saw in my combat log that Dominating the Fire element did about 65k damage to Phrotis, so it's not really necessary to worry about doing too much of your own dps to him. I still cast the long DoTs, like the swarm pets and Velious, just to have some extra damage (Velious doesn't really slow him from what I could tell, he moves slow enough already), but I don't think it made too much of a difference in the end.
