That was fun to watch!

I'll admit I'm a wuss and I tend to panic during any kind of PvP. I've tried it before, not with EQ but with other games, briefly, and I'm no good at it.

That might change with the release of a game I've been waiting a while for, but for the moment, I stick with PvE.

I'm frustrated with my assassin at the moment. Been pouring time into my dirge.

Yeah but they're needed! lol

Is it sad that I play my dirge like an assassin?

Anyway, I dusted my assassin back off the past few days and got a couple of HQ's done, went on a raid last night for AA. That was alot of fun. I'm thinking I won't give up on her just yet.

Get your AAs up and that will help, adornments as well...Now, when I pvp sometimes I play my assn like a tank...that is fun in itself In fact, with good healers I have tanked CoA

i loved PVP in eq1. Did it for 3 years straight on VZ... from the day it opened until Stormhammer came out. By then though, i needed a change of pace. That and the introduction of POP pretty much killed pvp in EQ1. all you faced was people standing at the other end of the "books" waiting to gank people as they resync'd from zoning. PVP became just a sh!tty waste land of skill-less newbs. I have no doubts EQ2 suffers from similar with people camping landing points where griffons and sokokars drop people. No good for zones where you can't jump off the mount.

Did give EQ2 pvp a shot when it first opened with DoF. my impression: once again, a great idea that was poorly implimented. SOE should have stuck with their original idea for EQ2 pvp... None.

I am sure they've changed, modified, upgraded (read as nerfed), downgraded (more nerfed), optimized (thrice nerfaged), balanced (umm, ya...) pvp now compared to DoF times. But heck, they couldn't get it right in EQ1... Too much back and forth trying to balance pve and pvp... regardless of what anyone says, thinks, believes, wants, wishes, hopes, prays, cries, screams, explains, complains, boasts, condones, condemns, whines... pve and pvp will always always always affect each other and the mechanics therein. Believing otherwise just means you are either blind, have drank the kool-aid or are band new to the game and simply don't know better.

but ya, all that aside, pvp can t be great fun. it will definitely give you a great appreciation (if anything else) for gear that you can get... and when. PVE, gear rains down on players like hookers to tourists in vegas. PVP, you have to work so much harder to accomplish quests, goals, etc. That was one of the biggest shocks i experienced in EQ1, i remember. When i went to the pve server, i was amazed at what people considered crap, which on a pvp server was like gold (or plat).

PvP on EQ2 wasn't released until after the KoS expansion.

((my main hook of pvp was that it completely refreshed the game for me, suddenly everything was new again. the most mundane things that would previously went overlooked now became possibly important as you would try to find ways of making every little thing help in your battle against other players.

It make the most commonplace zones into deadly battlegrounds

it added spice to the otherwise bland (and becoming MORE bland daily) game world.

Sure the game in pve looks fine, the quests are fun and the lore is good, but put everything in a new context, one of players hunting players... and it becomes a whole new animal. Totally exciting and completely new and unique

Ugh, you people need to start utilizing wegame.com. Filefront is the devil!

When I want to play against other players I goto the arena with guildies (although PvE mechanics suck), play combat sims and first person shooter, and checkers
