Hi folks, new to EQ2 and wondering what the consensus is on optimal tradeskills for us. I get the feeling this is less important in this game than in others, but I'd still love to hear your thoughts. I was leaning towards sage, but that almost feels too obvious. Thanks!

Sage is an excellent choice for a Wizard, as your damage relies on the quality of your spells! Tailor is a viable option, but in order for it to be useful to you as you level, you'd have to keep your tradeskill level approx. 10 levels higher than your adventure level to ensure you have the recipes for your next set of armor. Both of these are useful in equipping yourself as you level up.

If you're concerned about endgame raiding, the consumable tradeskills like alchemist (for potions) and provisioner would be more useful to you in the long run but they are not very helpful when you're leveling.

Personally I am a multicrafter, because I never could decide on a single trade....
