General inquiry on newer equipment

<p>I was just wondering, as I am looking to get a new computer within the year, what benefit I would get with the newer stuff that's out there now.</p><p>Anyone able to enlighten me as to how much better playing would be with an Nvidia 295(both 1 and two) vid card and a Pentium i7 extreme ed would be?</p>

<p>As with anything on the bleeding edge, you'll be paying more and your system wont be able to take full advantage of it immediately.  Everquest 2 itself wont utilize the second graphics card, for a start.  I also believe some people have had some problem with the I7 chips when hyperthreading is enabled(it shows up as 8 CPUs in DXdiag with it enabled).  I'm sure it will run well with the right tweaks, but the performance increase wont be directly relative to the price increase.</p>
