Greetings,

This error usually occurs when Vista blocks the launchpad update. Simply follow these instructions and that should resolve the issue:

1. Right click on the program launch icon2. Left click on "Properties".3. In the new window that pops up click on the "Compatibility" tab.4. In the "Compatibility Mode" area check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"5. In the drop down list make certain that "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is selected.6. Under "Privilege Level" make certain that the box next to "Run this program as administrator" is checked.7. Click on "Apply" then click on "Ok".8. Right click on the icon and select "Run as Administrator"

Hey all. I just tried to install EQ2 on my new laptop, reactivated my old account and have tried several things, all of which have resulted in this same error about the ability to load the graphics.

I successfully installed and played the trial for the last few days, uninstalled that and deleted the sony folder. Installed the game from the original disks (it wouldn't download the _aunchpad.exe) so i uninstalled again, deleted the sony folder and downloaded the installer from the main EQ2 page where it says "Reinstall eq2". My account is flagged up to RoK and I have allready reset the compatibility settings with the file.

Any ideas?

Ok here's what I did upon some more investigation....

I went ahead and downloaded the trial patcher... the trial launcher has DirectX associated with it and it installs that program. So then I went back and tried running the Original game launcher and presto it worked.

It sounds like some form of security is blocking the download. You were able to work around it, but it may present itself again. Let us know if the issue comes back.

Yeah I had allready set the compatibility and admin privilges on the file. The whole download was rather screwy. It turns out that the "reinstall eq" downloaded patcher did NOT work as I thought... it wouldn't initialize the actual download for the game. The "play the fae" patcher DID update (well is updating currently). I will keep it updated when it finishes (should be in a few hours).

Even if you set the administrator level in the compatibility tab, you'll need to right click and select 'run as administrator' as well.
