Aloha.

I purchased the Steam version of this game thinking it would be different than the box version and allow me to use the steam client overlay (chat/etc) with it.

Unfortunately for me I was mistaken.

Thus far I have been unable to use the steam client overlay although I get confirmation when I start the game that it is loaded. Whenever I press the key to bring up the steam community it does not function at all.

I have tried Shift+tab, tilde, a function key, * on the keypad and others.

I would like to know what I can do to make this work. A workaround/fix will make me very happy.

I'm running this on XP 32-bit SP3.

Thanks!

Sadly, I don't believe the Steam overlay will work when playing everquest 2, currently. That might be integrated at a later date, but I haven't received any information to that effect. I will typically play in windowed mode and alt tab to the steam friends window when I want access it in game.

Thank you for your reply Daniel.

I do hope this is implemented as it was the sole reason I purchased a second copy of the game. This functionality was worth the $40 for me; not to say that the second account doesn't come in handy for other purposes =)

I'll add my vote/voice for adding steam client overlay functionality to EQ2. Having to tab out to respond to messages etc is a bit of a pain. Since you are trying to pull in some customers from the steam community, it only makes sense that you add support for the client.

I too purchased the game on Steam so I could use the overlay. The most annoying thing about this is, my girlfriend added EQ2 as a non-steam game and the overlay works just fine. But I, who purchased the game THROUGH steam can't access the Steam community >.<...Please fix this as soon as possible. Thank you.

I think that would only happen if you she was running in windowed mode while you are running in full screen mode. Is that you have it set up currently?
