Have you installed DirectX 9.0c on that computer? DirectX10 doesn't actually include all the 9.0c files needed to play our game, so that could be causing the problem. You might want to reinstall 9.0c as well. It is available at the following link:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...;DisplayLang=en

Let us know if the problem persists after trying the above.

Found this advice in another thread as I was going though them and it worked for me.

To disable background programs. (This will not work with win2k) 1.Select the START button.2.Select RUN.3.Type in "msconfig" 4.Press OK5.Select the STARTUP tab.6.In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY . If you use Windows XP, please note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - Just click on Disable all at the bottom.7.Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer

Hope it works for you.

The "Gamma ramps" message relates to a problem with the graphics card in some way. You might want to try loading older drivers to see if that resolves the issue. It may be necessary to try several different versions before you find one that works well.

I'd also advise testing to make sure the fan is spinning on your graphics card. This error can pop up at times if the memory on the card is overheating.

heres my conversation with TSR Ken C.:

TSR Ken C.: Hmm. The information appears to be sent off to a specialist here but I'll check through it as well to see if anything is particularly noticeable. This will take a few moments. [10:14:37 AM]xojie soe: ok [10:14:46 AM]TSR Ken C.: Thanks for holding on - just about done here. [10:22:20 AM]xojie soe: Alrighty [10:22:25 AM]TSR Ken C.: Well from what I was able to check, it may be a UI issue or a Graphical Driver issue - has either route been suggested by us so I don't end up suggesting something you may have already tried? [10:24:30 AM]xojie soe: No, the only issue suggested so far was a DirectX 9.0c install [10:25:04 AM]TSR Ken C.: Well as that has been attempted numerous times with no success - we'll lead off that particular track here. [10:25:47 AM]TSR Ken C.: Let's go first with the graphics card drivers - I'll find the most recent updated drivers that you should try with EQ2. [10:27:42 AM]xojie soe: ok, I have a NVIDIA 7900 GS, and while trying to solve the problem myself, I've tried both 178.24 drivers and 181.22 drivers [10:29:32 AM]TSR Ken C.: Roger. You also mentioned a re-install? [10:30:46 AM]xojie soe: A full re-install of eq2, yes [10:30:58 AM]TSR Ken C.: I think I have something here! Thanks for your patience. [10:35:12 AM]xojie soe: Alright, no worries, I'm just glad to be getting somewhere [10:35:42 AM]TSR Ken C.: Well I managed to get a response from a specialist here. He mentioned that the problem is very likely going to be the case of there being Windows Firewall or and an Anti-Virus program blocking appropriate data from being transferred between us and you. [10:40:18 AM]TSR Ken C.: As the E: drive that error mentions is in fact a drive on the EQ2 servers. [10:40:30 AM]xojie soe: I've had that suggestion before, but to my knowledge, I'm not exactly sure what I would have that is blocking it. I have windows firewall set to off, and the only anti-virus program on my computer is Symantic Endpoint, which is required to be installed for internet access at my university. I have the settings on it set to everything off, but I can try to uninstall it to see if it makes a difference [10:43:22 AM]TSR Ken C.: That may be worth a shot, at least as a temporary test. Have you also tried the whole UAC fix? [10:44:32 AM]xojie soe: UAC as in selecting the folder where eq2 is intalled, going to properties, and making sure none of the deny boxes are checked, something like that? [10:45:13 AM]TSR Ken C.: That's part of it - but there's a more effective and thorough method on that that I'd like you to try. [10:46:38 AM]xojie soe: Ok [10:46:45 AM]TSR Ken C.: 1. Type msconfig in the search box on the Start Menu and press enter on your keyboard.2. Click the tools tab in the System Configuration box.3. Scroll down the list and highlight 'Disable UAC' then click Launch.4. Restart your computer.5. Run the patcher. You can re-enable UAC by following the steps above but highlight 'Enable UAC' [10:48:09 AM]xojie soe: ok, and when i restart, should I resend my ticket to chat support if i continue to have problems, or report on the email support? [10:50:16 AM]TSR Ken C.: Well I've forwarded your E-Mail ticket to that particular specialist so I would suggest it through E-Mail for now just so they know what else has been attempted. [10:51:42 AM]xojie soe: Ok, I'll attempt the UAC solution, and the uninstall of Symantic if UAC does not work [10:52:18 AM]TSR Ken C.: Great. You can always E-Mail me at
[email protected] as well should you have any specific questions. [10:53:02 AM]xojie soe: Alrighty, thank you for your time today [10:53:27 AM]TSR Ken C.: Thank you for visiting our Sony Online Entertainment customer support chat. Take care and have a nice day! [10:53:32 AM]'xojie soe' disconnected ('Concluded by Agent'. [10:53:34 AM]

The UAC fix seemed to fix everything.
