Ive been debating on to which to make my new character, Ive been leaning toward mystic but what are the perks that make mystic diffrent that defiler. I think that it would be easier to quest with a mystic than defiler since defilers are more for healing but is that the only perk? Whats it like getting in a raid? Do you fight for your spot or is it guaranteed by your class? Do you guys enjoy playing your mystic or do you find yourself playing on a diffrent character? How is soloing to get to 80 with mystic is it possible?

I love my Mystic. I have no problem at all soloing. Mystics can turn their damage spells into combat arts in the EoF tree and spec down the AGI line in the KoS tree, making for some very nice DPS. Defiler DPS, from what I hear, is dreadful. So, for soloing, Mystic has Defiler beat, hands down. For healing, I don't know that Defilers heal any better, but I think they can buff hps a tad better. Both Shamen get some nice buffs and debuffs. Mystics get Bolster, which is quite nice. Defilers can Cannibalize, so they have a power regen. As far as raiding, both are very desirable.

I have another question since you guys are being very helpful, the 5% casting speed that Erudites get, is it worth it? I really dont like erudites so I dont want to roll one. So at level 80 does it really matter?

And for the people who have both a defiler and mystic, what character do you play the most?

5% = probally not worth it. IF my math is right and i'm not saying it is, on a 10 second cast 5% is only .5 of a second. Speaking as a mystic only nothing i cast is much over 3, except maybe the group ward. I just dont see it being that helpful. As for eurdite, racially they tend to have high INT, which for a combat spec'd mystic is useless, All the CA's will use STR instead. Personally i went barbarian because it was what i was used to. I love it.

And as for what happens at lvl 80, from what i hear by the time your lvl 80 race does not matter much at all. Any bonus/penality you get from a race can be corrected easily enough with gear.

The stat cap at L80 is 1220 . . . any difference that is noticeable at L10 will be completely irrelevant at L80.

It doesn't matter what the base is. Either 5% is useful or it's not. For mystics, it's very much useful since our heals has long cast time.

And int can be useful for a combat spec'ed mystic, since it affects our claws and procs from items. But strength is still king for the overall dps output.

The 5% is noticeable, but definately not necessary. There are plenty of single pieces of gear with 5% benelevent alacrity,a nd that would be basically the same thing when it comes to casting heals.

Mystic's get a faster casting speed with their new TSO healing stance I believe... and you'll have to find a balance between heal crit% power pool, wisdom, casting speed, and recast speed gear. If you compare these small racial bonuses to the bonuses available at end game, it's generally not that important. I chose a troll for my mystic, and I don't regret the decision even though I did sacrifice some heal crit or some other abilities.

I notice the difference.

Anyways I think recast reduction would be 5% of half of the base casting time..so 5% of 5 seconds...I think.
