So I just got this game on steam and downloaded it. It has the Rise of Kunak and the Shadow Oddysee. I am guesing I am suppose to use Shadow Oddysee, but when I try to play either it says game unavailable. Anyone know why? (When I clicked install I installed the Kunak one first, because I figured it was the one before, but it seemed to install both at the same time)

Not knowing how this service works yet I cannot say.

Do you have an Eq2 folder? Is there an EQ2.exe or everquest2.exe file to use?

Once you download the game you will be prompted to create an account at station.sony.com. Once you have done so you will want to right click on the game in your "My Games" panel and select "Manage My Account". Doing that will automatically activate the game on the account you just created.

Make sure that the account you last signed in with is the one you want to use!

I've had this same problem for days. Have yet to try this resolution since the Station site is under maintenance right now, but will try again tonight. If this does happen to be the fix, then something needs to be said for streamlining the process... which should have been done before releasing to the general public. Something like being able to PLAY the game you're paying for is a rather important detail.

Ok, as it turns out I've done this before. "Activation code has already been used". Still can't launch the game. "The game is currently unavailable. Try again at anothe time.".

Thanks, but I'm afraid this has been happening since I purchased the game on Friday 1/16. The error is from STEAM when I double-click the EverQuest II game in my "My Games" list.

The same thing happened to me. I bought the game through Steam but when I went to run it, it always said "game unavailable". I think there is something wrong with Steam's handling of the game.

In order to work around this, I downloaded the EQ2 installer, unzipped/ran it and then copied over the files from my Steam directory into the new EQ2 directory created by the installer (make sure to copy the files over; you don't want to redownload everything!). Then I ran the launcher, it verified the files and I was off and running.

All you're really buying from Steam is the license key. Once that is applied to your Station account, it doesn't matter where you get the client from or how you run it.

I believe we have people working to make this process easier for customers so hopefully this wont be necessary for long.

(Maybe they'll correct the spelling on the name, as well)

Thank you, but that's only a workaround and more hassle than ANY customer should have to go through. I'd much rather be firm in saying that you buy the game in Steam, you should then download the game, and be able to run it. While workarounds like you mention are helpful to some, they are not the solution I'm seeking (I'm somewhat playing advocate for the less tech-savvy here).

I simply want the game to work "as expected", of which my interpretation is, like every other game purchasable on Steam. This includes launching the game, Steam integration (Friends-list while in-game), and Steam Community game-usage tracking (shows when you're in-game or not). This should already have been the case before making the product available to customers. The fact that it's not only puts at risk your reputation with the very new customers that you're trying to target by expanding to the Steam platform. Thus, the sooner this is working properly, the better for everybody involved.
