Memwipe. It feels stupid having to ask...but what is it and what does it mean when it happens?

GrunEQ wrote:

I quess I mean, when the mob does memwipe.

Basically, it forgets its hate list where maybe the tank was at the top and everyone below, usually putting a damage dealer or healer at the top of the list from the new hate they generate from continued heals/damage. So the tank has to start fresh and get aggro back.

Just FYI, there's mobs that will also memblur. The difference is that, with a memwipe, the mob's hate list is completely reset. With a memblur, the player at the top of the hate list (typically the tank) is lowered in threat position. In both cases, the tank uses one of their snap aggro spells to get control of the mob again.
