Some background, shaman get an AA ability, Kindered Restoration, that adds a group heal to their group ward when the group ward "terminates".

It no longer seems to matter if the defiler is casting another spell when the trigger for Kindered Restoration occurs, a very welcome fix.

However, Kindered Restoration seems to have another problem.

I see at least 6 cases to test, I have checked 4 of those cases.

(1) The ward expires

(2) The ward absorbs its maximum damage

(3) The ward is refreshed, recast before it expires

(4) The ward is canceled

(5) The ward is dispelled

(6) The defiler dies

Test results

(1) triggers

(2) triggers

(3) does NOT trigger ... /bug has been placed

(4) does not trigger ... maybe a /bug and maybe not, could go either way

(5) not tested

(6) not tested

Cases 4, 5, and 6 occur so infrequently I am not sure they matter much.

Cases 1, 2, and 3 are common. Not triggering on case 3 is going to hurt this ability quite a bit.

When grouped, or when trying to create this case when solo, it is possible for a toon to be at less than full health when the group ward is cast. It is also possible to "refresh" the group ward by recasting it before it "expires" due to being up too long. Keeping the group ward up at all times is generally a good thing to do. Unfortunately, as it is now, Kindered Restoration will not trigger when the group ward is "refreshed" in this way. Also remember, not all damage types are absorbed by the group ward.

The confusion seems to arise from the meaning of "terminates" in this group ward context.

Please change Kindered Restoration to trigger when the group ward is "refreshed", recast before it expires, thank you.

-Leucippus

I'd lean towards "not a bug", since all other backloaded spells work the same way (illusionists have a DoT with a large nuke that triggers on termination, and they have an AA line that adds the same effect to 3 other DoT spells. None fire the termination nuke if refreshed early... and yes, there's benefit to doing so since you can get new procs and a fresh pile of +spell damage effects on the first tick of the overwriting DoT.)

But if someone decides that "no termination effects on refresh is a bug for healing spells", then the cleric shadows AA, which modifies their group reactive in the same way, has the same problem.

It really stinks if thats the case and this isn't a bug. It discourages being proactive and getting your ward up again before it is gone. I don't do what they call "healblocking" but there are many many encounters where I refresh my ward before it expires or is eaten up.
