Well, I'm not sure what gear you are considering exactly. But what I found was all the good dropped gear seemed to be 79 to 80, I ended up just leveling up then running RoK and the easy TSO instances for shards. As gear loses mit every level you get past it, 79 to 80 pieces are optimal... as far as mit goes. Really the TSO gear especially tier 2 is pretty decent, that's what I'm working towards, but I had to get to 80 to wear it and get shards. (or 79 for shards I can't remember)

There is some decent legendary for tanking that drops from Karnors but not really impressive. I'm sitting at 80% spell crit with the first TSO set. The MC until then is pretty good for DPS, the tank type gear before 79/80 is not so much for DPS, but taking hits. It's peobably good to keep a set of gear for DPS and set for tanking.

I agree with Nuhus. Up until I hit 80 I had two macros, one equipping Devout and one equipping Vanguard. I then went through the questlines than gave me access to making the Di'Zok armour but it didn't give a massive boost over what I had so may not be worth it if it detracts from getting to 80.

I'm sure you can do shard instances before 80 but that you can't spend them until 80 (or wear what u've bought at least). So get doing them as soon as you can as the TSO t1 armour is much better than any MC t8 stuff. And the TSO t2 stuff eclipses it (t8 MC that is).

Also, don't overlook the shard and infused shard jewelry. And don't be duped into forcing three sets into your nine slots for the set bonuses, it's sometimes better to pick and mix. Also don't overlook the standard jewelry at 5 shards cost, some of them may have one single proc which is way better for you than multiple procs which have less impact.

If there was one overall, ok, make it two overall, procs I would go for would be Mutagenic Burst (2 items from RE2, one from Deep Forge and 1 from Tomb of Mad Crusader) and increased DPS as this is a percentage. I.e. the adornment that gives +12 dps actually provides 12% increased damage.
