I got my mystic up a bit and have started to notice the runic mark line is causing me to get agro. How do other mystics deal with this? I went on a guild raid the other day and was at the very low end of the level limit, I quickly realized that runic mark was going to get me killed! I thought about turning it off but realized i'd be depriving my group of its mitigation buff as well. I didnt really like this option.

From what i can tell i get agro from the ward portion of it. A tank will run out there and "body pull" or miss with a bow and the "pull" will just ignore him and charge past him, right at the mystic....ME! Normally the tank gets it togather and pulls it off me before any harm is done, but its annoying to both me and the tank. Is there some way around this without haveing to recast my buff after every pull?

I dont know if it matters but i got an adept 3 version of the spell which naturally gives more ward. Is the ward portion of it being stronger causing me to out "agro" the tanks "natural agro" he gets by starting the pull? By natuarl agro, I assume that there has to be some amount of hate assigned even if its just 1 point in order for the mobs to attack.

How do other mystics deal with this?

I put up grp ward and if the tank does get a resisted taunt at least I have a little defence untill he gets it back

The only place I get a lot of ward agro (I pre-ward as well) is RE2.

Have noticed that it can sometimes happen , but there is not much you can do about it, the tanks needs to get hold of the mob so if the mob does take a b-line to you do nothing to generate more hate and let the tank grab him back.

The few times I get agro on a pull is when I am still in the process of casting the group ward as the pull is starting. I usually cast the group ward several seconds before the pull and the single target ward eminently before pull. Also if I don't have my dog on a leash he may charge the mob and steal the agro for a second.

Purcupile

I start warding myself on INC, USUALLY fixes that problem (depending on the tank).

I have put my dog on passave and combined the Dog Dog AA ability with the pet attack command as a macro. So he doesent aways pull. and steel aggro. frees up a hot key as well

Raz_wolf wrote:

How do other mystics deal with this?

This is something all healers know about. If a ward, reactive heal or pre-casted HoT is on the tank and procs/heals before the tank is taunting you are No. 1 on the hate list. It happens with the wardens spores and the clerics pre-cast reactive heals too. If your damage proc goes of when being hit its even worse.

Its either a lazy tank or a taunt got resisted. If he is lazy you shoul tell him to taunt asap after body pulling. If the taunt was resisted then it cant be helped. You definetely should pre-ward and trust in your tank though. There is nothing worse then a scared healer. As mystic or cleric you have a good chance to survive it anyways and the druids cast their initial HoT one second after pull and usually the thorns on the tank save their day. Clerics are able to time their reactives the same way. Just your warding buff is permanent. Thats why i do a group ward pre pull as well. On an extremely hard hitting named you should be ready to use your de-aggro to make it easy for anyone else to grab aggro Trigger happy squishies are expendable

You can do the bloodline quests. There is a spell as reward that is a damage shield on the tank. Its low tier with low damage. But imho divine damage and all helps sometimes just as long as the tank is doing damage when hit.

Generally I pre-ward with group ward on pulls; if a taunt gets resisted then I've got some protection. I've been in a few groups where the tank insisted on no pre-ward. If that insistence is more than just a few particular pulls, I'll remember that I don't want particularly want to heal for that tank in future groups. I will continue that run, carefully clicking off wards remaining from prior fights before the tank pulls the next mob. Typically runic does not get me any agro in these situations, and the only time I get agro on pull is when I've failed to drop the old wards before the next pull.

I haven't had to fight without prewards in ages. I do seem to recall long ago that that situation would also require that I pull dog-dog out of a fight 10 seconds or so before it ended so dog-dog's ward would expire as well. I was thinking this had been fixed and haven't even thought about in ages till just now composing this post.

I was thinking runic line was fixed long ago so it didn't generate agro by itself. E.G. if a group ward isn't up and the ranger or wizard walks up to a mob that hasn't been agro'ed yet, the mob beats on the wizard or ranger, and not me. There once was a time that yes every single stray add that anyone in the group ran into came to me.

Once you get the Bane Warding bonus from the Shard set, you'll actually be generating aggro for the tank by pre-Warding.

I can't remember where I read it, but someone was saying they had one tank had a hit for 900 damage. I don't have the set bonus yet, not sure if I'll ever get there as I have some other pieces that are just "too good" to give up.

For me the base damage on Bane Warding on t1 armor is around 730. Funny to see that banewarding is usually doin 100-200 of tanks zonewide dps =P
