Greetings,

I'm levelling up a high elf templar and would like some advice. He will be soloing and at times duoing with a Swashbuckler.

Which line mastercrafted plate should he be wearing?

Should I concentrate on Melee AA abilities or Spell casting?

Am I correct in assuming to pick the slowest, most damage dealing 2H weapon I can find?

Thank you for your help and time.

Alex

1) +wis is the MC you would be wearing.

2) That's the million dollar question. I went from 1-80 spell specced and killed stuff slowly, but I did always kill it. Just recently I changed to melee spec and it's amazing, I kill stuff much quicker. But the caveat is that you need a lot of AA points. You can get your spell damage up much faster than your melee damage thru the Templar line. But if you are patient I'd go melee spec personally, although I'm sure others will disagree with me. In the end you will have both spell spec and melee spec, but will have to decide which one to "max".

3) I've found that 2 DD spells will fit in nicely and almost perfectly between about 5-6 seconds delay, which is the 2h I'm using currently with my haste. So being melee specced I can watch my toon melee hit, then cast 2 spells whether they are DD, debuffs or heals, then one melee hit, etc etc. It's pretty amazing to see the damage numbers fly around, but once again this is after a lot of AA put into it.

If you will be soloing a lot you need DPS.

- Max out your STR and INT. You get wisdom anyway.- You will need both Spell AND Melee dps. Concentrate on spell till you get a good 2 hander.- You need to go for the weapon for the Highest end damage. Not the slowest but they are often the same. (this go for if you have max melee crits). The melee uild is based on that you crit all the time.

/Hugs Tash

Unless you have the mythical version of your epic wisdom does NOTHING to help you heal. Get str/int with a healthy dose of +heal/+spell

This information is most helpful, thank you everyone for responding.

Re Tash's comment on a good 2 hander, is the 32 MC 2H greatstaff a good Twohander? I have enough achievement to get 100% crit and plan on working on double attack next.

to be honest Inquisitors shine solo and small group

Templars shine group and raid

that having been said I would recommend the following

1) get a respec mirror so you can play with different specs and find out what works for you

2) +wis helps the power pool and the resists and should not be neglected

3) have different gear sets too - I have a set that I use for normal wear, a haste set, working on a spec set for when I change things up in raids - you can be very versatile especially with the new expansion.

dont get pidgeonholed - try things and see what works for you - just because 90% of other templars like something doesnt mean it is the end all

oh and dont forget to use all of your spells - Soothe works wonders =P

Therefore, don't be so quick to discount the importance of wisdom. That said, the combo you mention is good for dps and heal efficiency. At lower levels, your suggestion may be very valid. However, the OP should get a mirror and have a heal only spec for tougher instances once he gets into the late tiers. The reason I mention this, is because many TSo instances have fights where the extra power I get by having over 1k wisdom is very beneficial.

Also don't underestimate the 1 handed weapon and either a buckler or symbol in your off-hand. It all depends on what gives you the best stats for what you want to do. There are some amazing bucklers in the game, and some of your AA's also give benefits when a buckler is equipped.
