<p>I recently installed Windows Vista Home Premium (64 bit) with Service Pack 1.</p><p>Graphic card is a Sapphire Radeon X1900 with Catalyst 8.12 vista64.</p><p>Although Vista is said to include DirectX 10, I also installed DirectX 9.0c, version November 2008.</p><p>There's only one hard disk drive (C).</p><p>I have no problems with other games. Dxdiag doesn't report any problems.</p><p>On startup of EQ2 (after launchpad) the game crashes immediately with the following error message:</p><p><a rel="nofollow" href="http://img240.imageshack.us/img240/eq2erroreo7.jpg/1/w479.png" target="_blank">http://img240.imageshack.us/my.php?...eq2erroreo7.jpg</a></p><p>The message says:</p><p><span style="color: #ff0000;">EQ2 has detected an unrecoverable error and must shutdown.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ff0000;">E:liveeq2frameworkcoredevicessrcDirectX9RenderDevi ce.cpp</span></p><p><span style="color: #ff0000;">(1246):</span></p><p><span style="color: #ff0000;">DirectX Error. (D3dERR_NOTAVAILABLE)</span></p><p><span style="color: #ff0000;">0097b1a3</span></p><p>Edit: The procedure described in <span ><a href="list.m?topic_id=419917">"Issue Tracking: DirectX render issues</a></span><span >" was useless.</span></p>
