Right, i'd firstly like to apologise if this is the most stupid question you've ever heard, i've just heard a lot of people say it but never give a reason for saying it.

Why are guardians really hard to solo with?

I thought that they were really good because they can wistand lots of damage.

I only ask because i was thinking about making a fighter character, and i do tend to enjoy solo but also grouping with my guild and would just wonder whether or not guardian is the way to go.

Any info on it would also be a great + Sorry again, i don't want to start a flame war with this!-KezJona

Guards are not hard to solo...just slow. Assuming we are talking about appropriate "solo" content. We can't walk into KC and solo it like some can.

I would wager that in soloing thru the RoK solo lines...that out of the people in my guild...I probably did it with the least deaths...just took me a tad longer.

Mobs take longer to kill than most other classes.

Small power pool means you will run out of power a lot and have to regen making it take even longer.

Any class can kill a single solo encounter easily. Some classes take longer. Some classes can't chain kill solo mobs without breaking often for mana. Some classes/players can't kill heroic encounters higher than green without significant effort/downtime. Some classes are harder to move around the world (like guardian) with no natural run speed, stealth, evac, ports, or feign death type abilities.

Guardians are prolly one of the slower and less versitile soloers in EQ2 by any mesurement.

If you want to be able to solo and group, a guard is an option, but a zerker would probably be better. If you really want to go for a traditional tank a pally or an sk would be good too, for a non-traditional tank a monk or bruiser are great soloers. Of all of those the sk and pally are going to be your best soloers then the zerk then the gaurd. Personally I went guard because I wanted something that most resembeled a warrior in eq1 and that was the guard. In the current state of the game (and where it is heading) if I was starting a tank that I knew I would be soloing for much of it's life I would probably start one of the crusaders. As for my guard, well he's semi retired and I play my dirge much much more...
