I recently betrayed to templar, and am finding it quite difficult to think through when I would be using some of my new spells. I have 123 AA points, and have spent them as follows:

INT 4-4-7-8-1

STA 4-4-6-8-1

AGI 4-4-4-8

Blessings : Mark of Divinity 5, Amending Fate 5, Involuntary Gift 5, Unyielding Benediction 2, Glory 3, Blessings 1

Holy Smites : Divine Smite 5, Holy Strike 5, Warring Deities 5, Blazoned Faith 5, Smite Corruption 5

At the moment I have only tried soloing. Usually, I pull the mob, put all the heal tirggers on and then work through the damage spells, although I'm not sure whether this is the most effective way to go about it. I'm hoping healing in a group will be easier to adjust to as I'm guessing its similar to how an inquisitor heals.

Anyway, I would be very grateful if someone could give examples or otherwise explain situations where the following spells should be used:

-Focussed Intercession - emergencies only?

-Unswerving Hammer

-Reverence

-Shield of Faith

-Sanctuary

-Divine Arbitration

As a side question, which stats should I be focussing on when looking at new armor/jewellery/weapons? I assume WIS and INT? Currently still waering all my inquisitor's STR gear which I'll need to change.

Thanks.

Dont really need end STA line. May be worthwhile going 4-4-8-8 in AGI.

For Blessings I'd put max 3 in amending fate. I'd actually only go max 3 in mark and gift until you have a 'extra point' (i'm at work so can't check my templar but i think if you put 3 in those you will have enough for blessings. I think 5 in rebuke is important.

Smites: I hope you took end line ability.

At the moment I have only tried soloing. I used to use it for fights when i was running outa mana. Can still use mana stone when you are stunned with it. Never run out of mana now so can't remember the last time i used it. Not really worth even keeping on hotbar

-Unswerving Hammer: Nice dps addition. I usually precast as tank is pulling. CAn try to coordingate with cob. If you can convince someone to cast a reuse reducer on you as it's expiring (or use DR) can be beneficial.

-Reverence: I cast it on tank on pulls and on tough fights i keep it up. HArd to appreciate how much it's doing cause it cannot be parsed... probably underappreciated.

-Shield of Faith: Keep it up as much as possible ifyou have choker wearers in group. Alot of names have arcane, mental, divine aoe's. Your job is to find out which encounters do and use shield of faith appropriate. For certain encounters this spell is invaluable.

-Sanctuary: Much like sof this spell can be overpowerd on some encounters. On fights with stun/ stifle/ roots etc it's generally precast to give the tank time to setup and get agro. If you choose your gear/ aa's appropriate a templar can be pretty much immune to stifle, stun and fear so I consider this spell to help the rest of the group and not me. Pay attention to encounters and what's happening with cc effects is required to master this spell. dont be one of those braindead templar that uses this on "named pull" only. IF named doesn't have a cc effect (most) dont waste your time casting it. If trash is gonna stun you use this as much as possible (VP trash, golems in veksar etc)

-Divine Arbitration: Generally an emergency spell. Be cautious though if you're trying to save a agro'ing dpser with it.... may end up sacrificing the tank if you're timing is wrong.

As a side question, which stats should I be focussing on when looking at new armor/jewellery/weapons? I assume WIS and INT? Currently still waering all my inquisitor's STR gear which I'll need to change.

With TSO aa's (flurry) I think STR will win out over INT. Ignore Wiz unless you get your mythical... provided you dont have power issues...and you shouldn't. The tough part is finding conservative healer gear with STR on it... my biggest gripe about healer gear is lack of STR.

Thanks.

Enoa.kithicor

Balorn.kithicor

Focused Intervention is very useful if you know you will be hit by a stun (or stiffle if you're not steadfast) and you dont have any AE blockers up (Sanctuary or Holy Shield). It allows you to at least maintain some healing through the stun (and use your manastone and themal shocker).

Thats a bit of a weird solo spec - why spend 8 points in shield ally for soloing? Thats 20 points you could put into Shadows to get Litany of Combat, and be close to Devout Incapacitation, and Blessed Yaulp.

Spending 25pts in Smites and NOT getting Smite Wrath - also not ideal

Str 44881 doesn't seem to work in TSO - I was using it for solo and still getting interrupted, so the baisc Sta/Int spec looks fine.

"At the moment I have only tried soloing. Usually, I pull the mob, put all the heal tirggers on and then work through the damage spells, although I'm not sure whether this is the most effective way to go about it."

I put up one or both reactives, then pull with Mark (which I have in a macro with /autoattack 1), followed by disgrace, and damage spells, using Healing Fate as often as possible - you can often get through a fight without healing which keeps Smite Wrath up. Sign of Placation and Awestruck help here too.

Focussed Intercession - Agree with the others - emergency only. e.g. If you are soloing and getting beat on by multiple mobs and can't get anything else off (especially if you have a damage shield potion going)

Hammer - takes too long to cast, so I use for pulling mainly

Reverence - At master its 240% of consumed power -> health, so it works a treat

Shield of Faith - Wards as well as increases resists, I tend to use it mainly on raids, where I time it for AoEs - cast/recast means you can't keep it up all the time.

Sanctuary - godly spell, cast as late as possible on the pull, so its up for as long as possible. Together with personal use of Holy Shield you can generally avoid stifle/stun/fear - very useful for raiding.

Divine Arbitration - used to be unlimited range, with that gone its pretty useless. Timed perfectly its a big heal, but sacrifice basically replaces it.

About 80% with fear immunity with sheild only.

Therefore i feel there is no need to have holy shield at all if you have this gear. I found it unreliable for alot of encounters so i spec'd out of it and haven't missed it at all.

Are we sure divine aribitration range is nerfed... i had it work from Veksar entrance to Omen's call today... I assumed it was DA but maybe it was the zerker used his antideath thingee. I forgot to ask him just assumed it was me that saved him. will test it and update this.
