Yes. I use Vista 64 and have had no problems at all with EQ2.

Yes, EQ2 and Vista64 are compatible. I've been using this combo since building my current computer circa late April 2007. I suffered from out_of_memory crashes for some time, but these diminished in frequency and eventually vanished due to Windows updates, Everquest patches, and new device drivers.

I also had trouble with my X-fi sound card. That too was finally solved, thanks to a motherboard BIOS update and new Creative Labs drivers.

I do have one small (?) issue: If I run the game in full-screen mode the computer freezes after some variable period, requiring hard reboot. Running the game in a window (full-screen in my case) solves this, at the expense of some FPS. Note that this doesn't seem to be a wide-spread issue.

One word of advice. Whether Vista32 or Vista64 do not install the game in the default directory! Vista is over-protective with programs housed there. This can lead to issues that are difficult to diagnose and fix. I recommend putting EQ2 on its own partition or even a separate hard drive if you have that luxury. In any case don't accept the default install location.

I of course can't promise all will go well for you but I, at least, have no major complaints about Vista64 and EQ2.

-Roybob

Well, I gotta say..

After MONTHS of crashing using 32b Vista, and even seeing a 64b user having essentially the same problems (but able to sustain better performance to stay the innevitable; a crash)

I'm gonna venture to say that EQ2 and Any Windows Vista are "mostly compatible"

That is - you, the consumer, bite the bullet when playing EQ2 as opposed to ANY game "made after multicore processors".

No, I'm not happy with it. The game is good, but its so [Removed for Content] unfortunate that they cant adjust their program to keep up with mechanical hardware.

Edit: And voice is perpetually bugged too.

If you are blue screening then there is something else wrong with the system, if the application becomes unresponsive, have you followed some of the numerous guides that are available on the net for fine tuning a Vista based system?

Bottom line is get used to Vista, it is here to stay and the upcoming W7 release is a close cousin to Vista. XP is gone and just waiting for EOL to happen, it may be extented a little like W98, but it is going extinct
