A Gnomish Master Plan - Who is W? (*Spoiler*)

<p>Spoiler Alert. You've been warned...</p><p>So after repairing the space-time continuum and sending the Shiny Metallic Robe back in time, the gnomish enchantress returns to her time period, apparently repairs the robe, and gives it to the Antonican Bards to deliver to you at the appropriate time (think Back To The Future II).</p><p><img src="http://www.mattcrews.com/images/eq2/smr-mail.jpg" /></p><p>This places the unfortunate time-traveler back 500 years during the Age of Turmoil, some time before the Plane of Knowledge is discovered.</p><p>The gnome you must defeat, Rilgor Plegnog, is the Enchanter guildmaster of Ak'Anon during this time, and also plays a role in the Enchanter epic quest back in the day (ironically, the SMR is required for the Enchanter epic quest, Rilgor Plegnog wants one in exchange for a mechanical pen, and our time-traveler is an enchantress...).</p><p>But the question is, who is this W? Is she just a random gnome enchanter who figured out how to cause a time paradox? Or is she part of some other major storyline somewhere?</p>

<p>To not go too deep into the lore, is it possible it's just the Dev's being punny again and making to a pop-culture reference? After all James Bond's boss is "M," and W looks like a flipped M.</p><p>Or maybe it is a play on the StarTrek NG character of Q (who also seemed to have space/time issues)?</p><p>Maybe it is a significant lore figure, but it might just be an odd 'throw away' detail they added. <p>I looked at Allakazam's beastiary, and couldn't really find anything myself there in terms of a Gnome with the intial W.</p>
