I had an interesting conversation in 70-79 chat the other day concerning the DPS of templars. Interestingly it started with some inquisitor bragging how he was outparsing wizards and others in level chat agreeing with him. I was hearing he would easily hit 3.5k or more on parses.

Well as a templar I asked in general why we didn't get anything like this, maybe not as DPS but maybe along the lines of utilities or higher healing. Don't get me wrong I'm happy with my Templar, I can solo anything and am pretty much indestructable, but if I could parse like this inq claims then I could solo much faster. Additionally in instance content I'm quite happy with my healing capabilities and find myself with extra time during fights after putting up all my reactives and all my debuffs to both melee and also throw down damage spells. I'm maxxed out in spell crit, have all my spells maxxed in the templar line for damage, and have 100% melee crit but I've never parsed close to what the inq says he parses.

So anyhow I brought this up in level chat and there were many who said that Templars could parse very high as well. I took this with a grain of salt, but figured I would ask. They mentioned the flurry ability and also the yaulp TSO improvement as primary DPS increasers. Which brings me to my original question, is a straight melee spec really that powerful for a Templar?

I've never used Yaulp that much as I felt I lost too much spell DPS from it, but maybe I've been barking up the wrong tree? Is melee DPS that much stronger than spell DPS overall?

Just looking for some interesting conversation on this.
