View Full Version : I would like to claim compensation(old title: AA potion bug)

A bug of "Covering Your Snow Tracks!" quest of The Icy Keep.Even if you use AA potion of LoN or Frisk of Achievement of Station Cash, you won't gain sesquialteral AA XP.At least, in Sebilis, the Japanese server.

Until Dec 17, I had gained 9% AA XP from the quest with AA potion.Without AA potion, I had gained 6% AA XP.But after Dec 18, I have gained only 6% AA XP from the quest even with AA potion. At least until Dec 17, AA XP from the quest had increased with AA XP potions. All Sebilis server's players must depose it.

I verified now.AA XP of "Covering Your Snow Tracks!" quest seemed to decrease.I cleared "Covering Your Snow Tracks!" quest without AA potion now.I gained only 4% AA XP.But until Dec 17, I had gained 6% AA XP from the same quest. In each case, my AA was 171.

Therefore, this is not a bug.

But just a wait. Why did devs suddenly change AA XP of "Covering Your Snow Tracks!" quest without announcement?I bought Station Cash of around $200 to gain AA by "Covering Your Snow Tracks!" during this year-end and new year holidays.But....what a cruel treatment!4% AA XP is very different from 6% AA XP.SOE made us buy enough SC to gain AA in The Icy Keep, and SOE decreased AA XP of "Covering Your Snow Tracks!" quest without advance annnounce suddenly. This is a fraud! We use real money. Real cash. Why can you do such a terrible thing to us?At least, SOE should compensate the players who bought Station Cash because they intended to gain AA with "Covering Your Snow Tracks!" quest, imo.I bought SC because I intended to gain AA with "Covering Your Snow Tracks!" quest. But AA XP of "Covering Your Snow Tracks!" quest was decreased suddenly without advance announce.

Again, I would like to claim compensation for those who bought Station Cash because they intended to gain AA with "Covering Your Snow Tracks!" quest but AA XP of the quest was decreased 1/3 suddenly without advance announce.Because real money is involved in this problem.SOE, you must have foreseen this sort of problem when you introduced Station Cash. Therefore, you must know that there will be some cases that you have to compensate for Station Cash problem like this case.

While I don't have insight into whether they changed the amount of XP granted by the quest, that's a possibility. Maybe they didn't want to have people grinding a single repeatable quest to fill all their AA out.

Did you do the quest multiple times on each character before hand? Generally for repeatable quests you only get an AA bonus on the first completion. You'd still be converting some XP to AA at the higher levels but you wouldn't get the added AA quest bonus.

If you are looking for compensation, you will not get it from the forums. You would need to contact them directly either by phone, live chat or email.

However, they do state that the game play may change on the starting screens as you load the game, so I am not sure if they will be able to refund you. But it is always worth a try

If there is a bug in this quest regarding AA, the bug would have to be that it even gives AA at all after the first completion. "Covering Your Snow Tracks!" is the only repeatable quest that I can think of that actually awards AA every time the player completes the quest. This is not normal to this game, where repeatable quests only award AA upon first completion, by design.

SOE could very well have taken the additional AA out completely and "fixed" the bug in the quest. Instead, they apparently chose to leave a bit of seasonal cheer in the event and allow the additional AA to continue to flow, albeit at a reduced rate.

Of course, there is always the likelihood that you are seeing a reduced percentage increase in your AA solely due to having more AA now. The quest still awards the same amount of AAxp but it is now a smaller percentage of the higher total xp required for the next point.

Let me spell it for you. If there is a bug in a quest wherein experience is awarded incorrectly, they do not have to give anyone advanced warning if/when they decide to "fix" it. It's a bug. The potions still work as advertised and you still are getting what you paid for but you are no longer able to exploit a bug with them.

If it is a bug. I honestly don't know, and frankly, I don't care. The fact that you and apparently many of your acquintances are willing to spend money to increase your experience gain by some miniscule amount is a rather sad commentary but, hey, it's your money. Spend it. It helps the economy, which kinda needs the help right now.

But asking for compensation for a change in a game mechanic is pretty much exactly what you tell SOE you waive the right for every time you log in. Good luck with that.

*sighs* I've been reading this post...thinking that I should stay out. Thinking that it would just be better if I did and that is likely so but I cannot anymore.

Nero, SOE can do whatever they want, whenever they want. It is acceptable because you agree to it every single time you sign on to their game which means you have done so at least once since encountering said "bug". It says right in their EULA that the state of their game changes. It doesn't say anything about real money or lack of real money just that the state of their game WILL change. You have to hit accept (therby agreeing with it) every single time you log in. I think these paragraphs state it aqequately.

"Certain servers have been designated as enabled for transactions through Live Gamer Exchange, a service hosted and operated by Live Gamer, Inc. – all such transactions and eligibility to participate in them are also governed by the Live Gamer Terms of Service (the “Exchange Agreement”). You agree that SOE retains the unfettered right to modify its games and all aspects of characters, items and coin (collectively, “Virtual Goods”) therein. You acknowledge that SOE has been, is, and will be constantly making changes to its games. You further acknowledge that SOE can and will, in its discretion, modify features, functions or abilities of any element of the game or any Virtual Goods (which may, among other things, make the Virtual Goods substantially more effective or functional, or less effective or functional, more common or less common, or eliminated entirely)."

"YOU PROMISE, THEREFORE, THAT YOU WILL NEVER ASSERT OR BRING ANY CLAIM OR SUIT AGAINST SOE, ITS LICENSOR(S), ANY SONY COMPANY, OR ANY EMPLOYEES OF ANY OF THE ABOVE, WHICH IS RELATED TO OR BASED ON (I) A CLAIM THAT YOU “OWN” ANY VIRTUAL GOODS IN ANY GAME, (II) A CLAIM FOR THE “VALUE” OF VIRTUAL GOODS IF SOE DELETES THEM (AND/OR TERMINATES YOUR ACCOUNT(S)) IF YOU OR ANYONE ACTING IN CONCERT WITH YOU VIOLATES ANY PROVISION OF THE EXCHANGE AGREEMENT, THIS AGREEMENT, THE GAME’S RULES OF CONDUCT, SOE’S TERMS OF SERVICE AND/OR SOE’S PRIVACY POLICY (ALL OF WHICH ARE POSTED AT A LINK AT WWW.EVERQUEST2.COM), (III) A CLAIM FOR THE “VALUE” OF VIRTUAL GOODS THAT YOU MAY LOSE IF SOE DOES ANYTHING THAT IT IS ENTITLED TO DO PURSUANT TO ANY PROVISION OF THE EXCHANGE AGREEMENT, THIS AGREEMENT, THE GAME’S RULES OF CONDUCT, SOE’S TERMS OF SERVICE AND/OR SOE’S PRIVACY POLICY, OR FOR ANY MALFUNCTIONS AND/OR “BUGS” IN THE GAME, AND/OR (IV) A CLAIM THAT THE “VALUE” OF ANY VIRTUAL GOODS HAS INCREASED OR DECREASED BY VIRTUE OF ANY GAME MODIFICATION THAT SOE HAS MADE OR WILL MAKE . ALL OF THE ABOVE APPLIES WHETHER ON AN EXCHANGE ENABLED SERVER OR ON A NON-EXCHANGE ENABLED SERVER ."

Now, I know you spent real money but reguardless that became null I think then you agreed to the terms that SOE layed out when you signed on to their game.

PS. I apologize for the second half being in caps. That was the way it was posted in the EULA. ALso I would like to point out that it says it is enabled on ALL servers. Just to put a stop in the people that will come up and say those words are for exchange only. Also I know the first paragraph says Livegamer but I pretty sure it counts all virtual good and the second paragraph confirms it with the bolded text.

If you're looking to get extra AA experience granted then you will need to talk to the GMs directly through the petition system. I work for technical support, myself, and I can't modify those kinds of things within game. I don't know if they will grant you that extra experience, but they would be the only people with the power to do so.

The japanese technical support is the same as TSR Daniel, but you know for japanese speaking customers. The GMs are still the only ones able....
