Just came back from a leave of absence. Everytime I log onto one of my 2 old chars I end up crashing to character select within a minute with no errors. I can walk around but not interact with everything and sometimes my toolbar wont show the icons information. I made a new character been playing for 5 or so hours and have had no problems. Everytime I log on those 2 characters I have problems and get booted however its really strange. Thanks ahead for any helpful ideas on a fix

That sounds like a UI related crash. Try following these steps:

You may want to delete the following files and folders:cache foldereq2_recent.inieq2_default.iniEverQuest2.exee q2.iniAs well as the character specific files, these will appear as such:Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.iniSt ationname_characters.iniTo do this, please follow these directions:1. First look for your EverQuest II directory. You can find the default directory in: C:Program FilesSonyEverQuest II2. Click on MY COMPUTER and then proceed into local disk C:3. Navigate your way to the default directory, or your chosen installation directory.4. Next look for any files explained above and delete them. 5. Afterwards, please start EverQuest II to have these files re-downloaded by the patcher.

I am having the same problem. I re-opened my account today, and have not been able to log in with any of my old characters. It waits for a long time at "Receiving Zone information" before loading more stuff, then crashes and sends me back to the character select when it comes to "updating environment map". I have another current account that was having problems earlier with the characters logging in fine, but not being able to interact with anything. Right now, that account works fine. I tried creating a new character on my re-opened account, but that didn't change anything for me. I tried the following: You may want to delete the following files and folders: cache folder eq2_recent.ini eq2_default.ini EverQuest2.exe eq2.ini As well as the character specific files, these will appear as such: Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.ini Stationname_characters.ini but I still have the same problem.

I started a new character and he works fine, I just don't get how ports would affect one character and not others. The directions didn't make sense to me I don't even use comcast.
