According to Aerelik, crane twirl will change from a proc to an AE autoattack (no word on what % yet) and all fighters will be receiving a taunt attached to our blue AE spell, presumeably full circle for us. Should help a little bit with AE aggro. Something on the int line is being changed to give us a taunt increase.

There are also plans to make the defensive stance more desireable for tanking, the offensive for dps, and to make switching them during those times less desireable, across all tank classes.

Just in case yall were curious and don't read the combat forums

From what I am reading I do think that the off/def stance changes should be a great move. The reason I hardly ever ever used defensive stance was the extreme lack of aggro holding pwr, but the survivability was better. In reality while tanking defensive should be the best stance to be in while offensive would allow some dps improvement if not tanking.

This will be interesting once these changes actually take place. Again this should be a great move.

He said the WIS line would have an AoE autoattack. He never said which ability it would be.

"This change is for all fighters not just brawlers. The offensive stance is your dps oriented stance and improves damage but at the cost of hate gain and threat while defensive stances lower dps but increase your hate generation and threat.
Also, with the changes everyone will have a new blue aoe taunt tied to one of the blue aoe lines. In additions, the wisdom line for brawlers has aoe auto attack now while the int line gives increased taunt effectiveness."

I am quite liking the idea of being able to not only taunt and hold mob agro, but also to taunt the couple dps backstabbers about how they are so poor they can't rip agro anymore!

Just got to find a way of still having fun with low dps I guess

OOC.

I must say, I am looking forward to these changes happening, based on what I have read from what Aeralik has posted.

I can't see me stopping loving playing monk as a DPS/tank-support class, obviously, I really love the role (and if I say so myself, I am very good at it!). I just wish our Tier 2 shard armour had more +dps-effects on it and less +tankage-benefits, for me anyway, but that is an aside.

However, right now, as a mostly-non-raiding legendary-geared Monk player, the idea of tanking is something I detest, mostly due to the attitude of a significant minority of awful pick-up group style players (whether casual or hardcore raider or anything between, there are awful players amongst them all, and far too many to avoid all of them all the time if one works off pick-up groups as I do). The attitude I refer to is the one where (a) the tank is to blame for everything (even the stupidity of other players in the group) and (b) Aggro management is the tank's job alone, DPS characters do not have to use their dehate abilities and are meant only to maximize their parse, and if the tank can't hold aggro, again, see (a).

Whilst there are good and bad players of all playstyles, a poorly-geared awful player has less of a capacity to mess aggro up as their DPS tends to be low, generally lower than mine, so they cant grab aggro unless they refuse to assist, or (worse) start pulling other encounters (ok now we are in total idiot territory of course *chuckle*). Therefore, my main problem are the well-geared awful players, and there are a lot of them too - and it only takes one awful player with a mythical weapon or such who refuses to use dehate abilities or moderate their dps when grouped with a RELATIVE TO THEM poorly-equipped tank to cause aggro bounce on every pull, and a group to die, die and die again - and, well, see (a) above, it is never their fault, always the tanks. They tend to get upset if I then say "boot the idiot with the mythical from group please", so it's just a situation I prefer to avoid *chuckle*.

This is why I do not tank for pickup groups.

But .. come GU51 .. if (big if) these changes mean I can tank in defensive and have a slight chance of actually holding aggro against all but the the worst of the awful players (who can then be just be added to the list and avoided, I *might* consider actually tanking for groups.

I said: might. Don't hold your breathe. I love being a DPS-Monk.

Hi,

read ya posts. I normally don't like tanking on my Monk....,especially in pick up groups where I do not know the people's capabilities that I am grouped with. But in saying this I tanked a a Seb group the other week for my Epic update, and...... well we hummed through the zone. This was a pick up group, and well frankly was one of the best pick up groups I had ever been in. Changed healers a bit into the zone as the healer...well frankly was crap, and hardly ever played his healer.

I normally go Def as Monk Tank...especially as Group Tank(Offrnsive when not Tanking)....and I was plesntly surprised tro see myself in the top 2 for most fights for the parse.

I have heard a mixed reaction from other fighters about the upcoming "Fighter Balance round 2". The most common theme I hear from people is they are afraid that their fighter class will be Nurfed, to hell, and back.

My Monk is my main character. He is a class that I love playing. Without a doubt I feel like Monks can fill both Tanking, and DPS Rolls easily within any group. As I have found more and more over the last yeaqr or so....given the right group makeup, Monks Excel at both Tanking and DPS Rolls.

I think no matter what happens, with this Fighter Balance, there will always be people that will feel like their class has be butchered to heck. Myself...welll I'll just wait and see.
