Warning! Do NOT read this thread if you are sensitive to spoilers! Leave NOW!

Go on! Shoo!

Last chance!

OK, so, Frostfell came around and I have been looking around, picking up new quests and so on. I head over to Frostfell village and what do I find?

Poor Gardy Giftgiver! Someone beat him up and smashed all his snowglobes!

What do you MEAN, beat up Gardy Giftgiver? More specifically, why exactly is this NOT a quest starter?

This mysterious, anti-frostfell-snowglobe-serial-killer has just INFURIATED an 80th level mythically-epicced Illusionist who happens to LIKE both Gardy himself AND her snowglobe collection, please-and-thank-you! How did this clown think he was going to get away with pulling a stunt like that?

This is unacceptable. This is not going to go. I intend to locate this individual and THUMP HIM!!!!! And if he is too tough for me - well guess what! I have friends and all I have to do is wave my delicately-manicured hand and say, "They are bothering me," and we will ALL go and beat him up!

Why is this not a quest starter? Why has someone come to BEAT UP poor Gardy and NO ONE is doing anything about it? He must be terrified, poor elf!

One presumes this is an oversight and the "No, you do NOT get to beat up my friends" quest will make its way to the live servers in due time. In the meantime, if you will pardon me, I have some axes to grind in anticipation of an... entuhiastic conversation regarding Snow Globes and the elves who distribute them to faithful snowglobe collectors.

Ha ha ha, hi Kaitheel!

Your post made me laugh. Yes, the snow globe collection pictured looks about like mine. I have faithfully collected all snowglobes, have multiples of every single one of them, and readily admit that I am not too upset at the prospect of no more snowglobes.

However, there is a greater issue involved here (particularly for a good-side roleplayer!) This entire post should be read in a very "in character" sort of a way. As an "Out of character" issue, I completely understand why the snowglobes were removed, and actually approve of the decision. Please do not think that I am asking for the reinstatement of snow globes - I'm not. That's not what I am talking about.

Even if I never get another globe - or anything else - from Gardy Giftgiver, he is my friend. He has been generous to me. I have seen him every Frostfell for years. And someone, somewhere, went and beat him - for no apparant reason. He cringes now if I approach. I am enraged at what was done to him.

It's not about the snowglobes. It's about the fact that someone came out of the blue and put the beatdown on someone that I, personally, know and like. I don't care if I never get another snowglobe. I do care that my friend has been terrorized and beaten for no reason that I can discern. Frankly, as a professional adventurer, I see this sort of thing all the time. I have been sent on all sorts of errands to avenge all sorts of wrongs. I do this all the time and I don't even really care about the people who send me on these quests. I don't know them. They are strangers.

I know Gardy Giftgiver. Gardy is not a stranger. I care that someone beat him and smashed his snowglobes. I care that he cringes at anyone who comes near him. I care that he is obviously miserable that he has nothing to give this year.

And most of all, I care that no one is doing anything about it.

Poor Gardy. I cannot fix his snow globes. However, I deeply want to find the individual that has done this to him and clean his clock. There is very much a "protecting my own" sort of factor at work here. I don't care who it is - I don't care where they are - you do not do this to my friend. I would be perfectly happy, frankly, if the quest reward was nothing more than returning to Gardy and explaining to him that no one would ever hurt him again - and perhaps he could feel less afraid, and cease to cringe when I approach. Perhaps I could even put him in contact with other Frostfell elves, and they could collaborate on a new type of gift for him to give, and next Frostfell he could return fit and healthy, with no snow globes at all, but rather some entirely new type of thing.

Please, please, please Kaitheel - somewhere, SOMEbody beat up Gardy Giftgiver. I know the globes are not coming back. That is OK. But do not let that person get away with beating Gardy! I admit that I have too many snowglobes, but Gardy didn't deserve what happened to him. Somewhere there is a bully running around. That person has a name (which is about to be, "mud,") and they have a location and a weapon and an in-character, in-game reason they did this appalling thing. Please let me track that person down and beat them within an inch of their life. Don't make me leave poor Gardy out in the cold! He has been giving gifts to everyone on Norrath for years - won't ANYone pay attention when something this awful happens to him?

Can't I be that person?

Pretty please?

With sugar on it?

'Naeleal: You have to be kidding me'

Anyways.... but if I was to be placing blame, I would be pointing at the gift giver goblin and his friends (goons) that are giving out gifts this year for even one has the name Glub .......... you know rhymes with 'Club' and he keeps pounding his fist together too. The gift giver looks to of recently bought a fake beard for it still has the price tag on it. Another thing to maybe think maybe he wants us to ask him for gifts so they can track us later and zone into our houses ands takes our stuffs. Goblins can't be trusted I tell ya! lol

Looks pretty guilty if you ask me

I wanted to go on a quest to get the fiends who beat up Gardy, too!!

*And* I also wanted more snowglobes!! (Probably because I missed one whole Frostfell due to being retired...*sighs and hugs her few precious 500 SP snowglobes*)

I agree. When I read my options of not letting it ruin my frostfell I was blown away. Gardy must be avenged! It isnt frostfell until our poor Gardy is safe to walk the streets at night and the evildoers who smashed all his hard work have been given their just desserts!

I also think we need a quest to help Gardy find a new hobby.. for next year =P

Okay, so I do have to admit I was hoping to not see any snowglobes again this year.. but poor Gardy! I feel real bad for the poor little guy. Like he says, who beats up a guy giving out presents?! I was surprised to see there was no quest about this, as well..Maybe for next year? Or come on, give the poor elf his job as gift giver back! Bah, goblins..

By the way, I notice some additional potential evidence - at least two of the Frostfell greeting cards this year show goblins with gifts and a couple of them look as if they are heading away from beat up elves!

Rrrrrrrr!
