As a monk I find myself doing basically two things now: I tank TSO instances, and I raid. I am very satisfied with my tanking spec (Wis line for the AoE, AGI line to decrease the recast on taunts, tsunami, etc., and a bit of int line for the critical hits). However, I am not happy at all with my raid dps, and was wondering what sort of suggestions yall had for raid AAs. The TSO line choices are fairly obvious (hp/power in the general line, increase to the offensive stance, raid buff, etc.) and in the monk line I've gone straight for the damage increases and reuse timer decreases, but I'm really not sure what to do with the brawler line.

As far as the end line abilities, very little seems actually useful--I'm never below 30% hp, so eagle shriek is out, Mantis Jab never seemed worthwile to me, and the sta line doesn't have anything to really interest me, Altruism is something that I don't think our raid-force would really take advantage of, Crane flock doesn't do anything since there's very few multiple-mob encounters and I have high enough double attack that it isn't particularly great just to bump up my DA for a single mob. Chi is the only one thats even remotely useful, mainly for the recast timers.

In terms of group setup, our raid force is unfortunately light on dirges. We usually have about two per raid, one goes to the MT group, and as we're very scout heavy the other seems to always go to a group of our highest damage scouts. I'm often stuck in a group with a troub, a couple rangers, a mystic, and a pally or brigand (in short, very little in terms of group buffs). I'm currently in VP monk set gear with a few pieces of TSO gear (unfortunately not the TSO monk set) and fabled gear from RoK instances sprinkled in.

This AA set would be used exclusively for raiding, and just about the only thing I ever tank is the sisters in hate which I never, ever have problems with, so I'm not particularly concerned with surviveability. Advice on how to increase my dps is welcome. (and by all means, gear suggestions are welcome too.)

The spec I'm currently building for raiding relies on me doing a bit of tanking, and so cannot rightly be considered a DPS spec per se - but with our awful EoF tree, I suppose it does not really matter, since there's only so many points to waste on DPS there before it simply gets stupid.

Nevertheless:

KoS tree:Str 44882Agi 448Int 448The rest, go for either altruism or as much of Crane Twirl as you can (3 points, not much really). I'm personally speccing for altruism, but not exactly in a hurry to get it right now. This means ignoring AE DPS for now, simply because our wis line no longer really pays off.

EoF tree: A bit more tricky, this one has some strange synergies with the tSO tree that I'm playing around with. Spec may not be optimal, but here's the plan so far, again from memory:

15 points in kicks15 points in jabs (or punches, I forget; the middle line).1 point for combination.5 points in heal5 points in self-root5 points in self-stun5 points in selfward5 points in Tsunami5 points in Tranquil Vision1 point for superior riposte3 points to selfcure (adding trauma effect cure)5 points I simply cannot remember where I plan to spend.

tSO tree; sadly, we don't have much choice here. We have to either spend points on things that will not help us much at all, or pour points into tanking abilities; SoEs latest fancy in the long and glorious history of having no clue whatsoever what they want to do with the brawler classes:

General:5 points in health is a no-brainer. Then waste 5 points whereever (I seem to remember going for speed).

Fighter:Swinging Strike: 5 pointsBattle Hardening: 5 points - unless you're often below the cap for offensive skills in offensive stance on raids, something I've never had trouble with. If so, Offensive Prowess may be worth picking up.Brawler: Tactical Precision: 5 points. Blazing Cobra: 5 points. Aversion: 5 points. Inner Focus: 1 pointMonk:Bite of the Cobra: 5 pointsFocused Followup: 1 point (gain thereafter is extremely marginal anyway)Mitigating Blows: 5 pointsMeditative healing: 5 pointsBob and Weave: 2 points6 points left in the tSO tree, and nowhere to really make decent use of them as I see it. I guess I would look at deflecting blow, and if the fighter revamp phase 2 does manage to make taunts mean something again, I might even decide to waste them on Tranquil Forewarning.

I don't have my spec to hand, and I'm still experimenting anyway.

I am somewhat constrained by being required to have Altruism by my RL, which I understand.

Chi is very useful for burst dps in raids just as it is solo or in instances. Hence my current brawler raid build has me with Chi and Altruism, then 4-4-8 in WIS and INT. My solo/instance build has nothing in AGI at all at the moment.

My understanding - based on parses to date - of melee crit and double attack is that they 'scale' with mob level, so 100% DA is 100% against a L80 opponent, and thus 130%+ DA is useful. So unless there's good evidence to the contrary, and given how much of our DPS is autoattack, pumping up DA is a pretty good thing to do.

The dps you get will obviously depend on group builds.
