I'm hoping Domino will respond because I'm really not sure if this is a bug or not and I hate to submit false bug reports. I'm a jeweler and just got the Mara recipes that use the rare crafting component (Najenaar Zircon) that drops in Hollow Tower from the boss. My concern is that it requires THREE of these rare components to craft the Ring of Defense (1 as primary, and 2 as secondary). I'm not sure on the Ring of Elements since I dont have that recipe quite yet. My friend is a tailor and has the recipes that use the Sathirian Shroud to make cloaks, and he states that only 1 shroud is required per cloak made.

To me this seems like it MIGHT be a bug, but I'm not sure. The drop rates on the shroud could be 1/3 of the zircon for all I know. And I think the shroud drops only in Kor-Sha which I believe is a much tougher zone than Hollow Tower, so that could also factor into things. It just seems that without any explaination as to why some recipes are costlier than others it seems unfair and/or bugged.

I believe some of the stuff with better/more desireable stats were supposed to cost more than one of the special componant, but I cant be sure on that. I will check the carpenter recipes and get back to you with the componant cost on those (they drop in Mistmoore which is also a bit harder than Hollow tower)

For the provie recipies ones requires only one basket of berries while the second one requires three. So like the other person posted it seems there's probably one "average" recipe and one "advanced" one. Does your friend have both tailor recipies or just one?

Not sure, he just mentioned the one cloak that he had crafted only required 1 shroud. It's entirely possible that the Defense ring requires more than the other on purpose, I did notice that the stats on the Defense ring were much nicer proportionally than the stats of the Elemental caster ring. I'm not sure how item-points are calculated however so I cant realy judge that.

If he only mentioned one cloak then he probably doesn't have the second recipe yet. Each tradeskill has TWO recipies that can purchased from the Far Sea merchant. They are seperate scrolls and have 5 charges. I'm pretty sure that one recipe will require only one dropped component and the second one will require several. I could be wrong but based on what I've seen so far I doubt it's a bug you just have the more advanced recipe.

Provisioner has one charm that cost 3 berries and one charm that cost 1 berry.

Both are fairly similar is how good they are. However the healers and casters require 3 berries and the scout/fighter only 1, that is extremely unfair.

I hope that this is made a little more fair.

It's really the healers that want that charm, I've found many charms for my mage.

It seems that al classes get 1 recipe requiring 1 of the new ingredients and 1 that costs 3.

I have yet to see any item where the more expensive is better than the cheaper.

I've run quite a few instances and have yet to see one of these ingredients drop.

So, I believe that the ingredients are a rare drop, much rarer than the quality of the items we can make deserves.

Either (and this would be my preference) the power of the items needs to be boosted (past the quality level of easy quested and common looted items which are obtainable)

or

The drop rate of the rare ingredient needs to be significantly increased (I would say to a level where you should expect a minimum of 1 per instance run, maybe 2)

The items are treasured, most groups tend to run NBG legendary plus, because anything else tends to be a silly amount of clicking, however it means these things get put into someones bag at random. And since almost NO ONE knows about them, it results in people finding them in their bags about 4 hours afterwards and thinking [Removed for Content], asking in a channel or checking broker, seeing the silly price up there, and putting it for sale for a silly price.
