I run the game on Vista home ultimate. It runs in XP SP2 compatability mode and 'run as administrator'. I've had no issues except the crashing bug that started for me in TSO (that bug is not causeed by Vista afaik).

Vista home and we didn't go compatability mode - works just fine. 4 gig ram, 6600 duo's (old cpu's today)

Works even better with an sli pair of GTS 8800s or a 280 but that's just judging by what I knew with a single 8800. (Much of the time now in solo and small group adventuring we've been able to cook extreme quality no worries. And very high quality solves any of the frame rate issues we've had where it becomes sticky. / I haven't raided in so long I don't know how it all works with the massively multiplayer spell effects and combat arts ymmv.)

I run fine too, I just open it (I don't do any administrator stuff or run in compatibility modes)

I think I have a nvidia 9800, 6600 dual core, and 4 gigs ram.

I was crashing on TSO release but turning off dual core support seemed to fix it for now.

I run it on Vista Ultimate x64. I have a Dell XP3 630i with a Quad core 2.4 8GB of ram, 2x8800 GT 512 cards and a pair of 160 raptors in Raid 0. I use EQ2 Maps set to run as administrator first then click open Everquest 2 from there and have no problems with it.

Vista does not cause any problems that can't be corrected easily. You can avoid most problems by installing the game to somewhere outside of the 'program files' directory. Vista tends to place higher security on files in that folder so you may want to install your game elsewhere.

That said, any other download issues can be corrected by following these steps:

1. Right click on the program launch icon2. Left click on "Properties".3. In the new window that pops up click on the "Compatibility" tab.4. In the "Compatibility Mode" area check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"5. In the drop down list make certain that "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is selected.6. Under "Privilege Level" make certain that the box next to "Run this program as administrator" is checked.7. Click on "Apply" then click on "Ok".8. Right click on the icon and select "Run as Administrator"

I would honestly recommend Vista for new computer builds at this point.

Or alternatively try

1 downloading the path program through the knowledge base,

2 make a new directory,

3 put the patch program in it,

4 right click patch program, send to desktop as short cut,

5 launch and let patch
