I have been trying to get a buddy to play, but his only access to internet is through Verizon wireless via use of an Aircard. We have tested in terms of speed, and it is possible, but my concern is that verizon says its only good upto 5GB.

Anyone use this for EQ2? If so, how much (on average) do you play? Have you exceeded or come close to the limit?

i'm on verizon wireless, between college work and random videos... and eq2 (whenever i'm at my computer i'm on EQ2 which is quite a long time being a full time college student =P) It's on when i'm doing college work as well in the background. I use just under 6 gigs a month on avg. I however, am grandfathered in to the plan so I do not get billed 25 cents per meg over. I have unlimited access and if I DL torrents or other streaming functions they can throttle me.

Speeds are just as fast as my uncles 2MBps connection of cable (in game at least) and I rarely get any lag. As of late though... the EQ2 servers have had some weird lag spikes as do their forums (this forum) but my ventrilo server in NJ is a 90 ping and my server in chicago is normally 130ish but has been spiking to 8000+ ping. Not sure if a router is down that leads out of jersey or what but yea it is fairly reliable most of the time!

While I wouldn't recommend wireless broadband for people who have other options, I can understand that sometimes it is the only workable solution. Generally, most players will not reach the 5GB limit solely from playing Everquest 2. Keep in mind that I am only taking Everquest 2's bandwith usage into account, though.

There may be exceptions such as large expansion downloads or a month of extremely hardcore Everquesting, but I doubt you'd reach that limit under normal circumstances.

I use verizon wireless broadband and play usually a couple hours a day or more if I have the time.

If Everquest2 is the only program using bandwidth I use about 10megabytes and hour somes 15-20meg

if I am zoning a lot, swtching toons etc but for regular gameplay I would say you'll use 10meg an hour.

That will get you roughly 100hours playtime for one gig. I know I used up 1111megs downloading patch stuff

after TSO went live and thats does not include TSO files, Just the stuff I needed to play EQ2.

That being said I rarely go above 2.5gig a month and thats with browsing and some downloads.

I get usually 180-250ping while playing and have no problems with lag in fact its more stable than

a perfect dialup connection. I used dialup for 8+ years of EQ1 so I can say that from experiance.

If you are using Wireless Broadband then you may want to consider visiting a coffee shop or net cafe for large downloads such as expansion content. A friend of mine uses Wireless and does that so he doesn't use up all his bandwidth.

Or wait till near then end of billing cycle and use up all the bandwidth left before your bandwidth resets.

I do that for video, patches for other games etc. Since I usually have 2.5gigs left thats a lot of stuff you

can download before your billing cycles resets.
