Does it matter all that much what I pick under the character development tab? I.e. my bonus racials and traits I automatically get at certain level intervals (like at 8 I can choose a bonus to any of my stats). Is it best to wait until I develop my character a bit more before I invest these points or are they refunded to me if I ever choose to respec?

Yes I am a total noobie

Presuming that you're looking to tank, there's only one real choice, the ones that increase your STA and health pool. The resists, pretty much take your pick but I'd recommend mental resists because that helps you resist mobs taunting you off your target.

The goals to shoot for in terms of health and power, self-buffed, is over 12K and 6K respectively, at level 80. Paladins who opt for higher power and lower health basically are relegating themselves to permanent off-tank status, not to mention that you're going to annoy the heck out of the healers when you run instances; spike damage that constantly puts you into the red will not amuse them.

Edit: By the way, you can respec your racials and master 2 choices.

Thanks for the info.

I'm just starting out so I'm not too concerned with what I plan to do at 80, but it's good to know ahead of time I suppose

I believe by 80 you can get like all of your racial bonuses except 2? So I'm mainly concerned with what order to get them in but it probably doesn't matter at all. My paladin is a Human so I'll probably start out getting the +3% HP and the +defense one.. /shrug

I was really just looking to find out if my choices were final or respeccable, and since they are I'm not going to worry about it too much
