View Full Version : Rewards from A Higher Purpose misprogrammed?

Two of the rewards from the quest A higher Purpose seem to have been programmed wrong. One of them gives 2% spell crit but the proc triggers from beneficial spells (Survival Accord Beacon), and the one that gives 2% heal crit procs from hostile spells (Survival Accord *I am unsure of the rest of the name of the item*). The one with spell crit should proc off of hostile spells and the one with heal crit should proc off of beneficial spells. I am unsure if the items were intended this way or not. If it is the case they are intended to be this way, then we should be allowed to do a one time swap for the one we would find the most useful to our class. I didn't have a clue of which one to choose with my necromancer. I went with the spell crit item hoping this would be fixed like the bangle of thuuga. Could a dev please look into this so others will not be as stumped as I was when choosing their reward? Thank you for your time.

Edited because it tried to post it before I was finished typing out my thoughts.

Those do look like they had their effects accidentally swapped. I'm fixing them so that the +spell crit badge will use the offensive effect.

Or you can keep your 2 heal crit. Either way the proc will still work for you.

No, it actually won't still work for him.

He picked the item with 2 Heal Crit and the offensive based proc. After the switch/fix, he'll have an item with 2 Heal Crit and a proc based on casting beneficial spells.

It would seem prudent to add a vendor who will accept one of these items as payment for choosing a different one. Otherwise the GM's will be flooded with requests to change the items out for a TON of people.

Yeah I agree... Had I not read this post I would probably have waited to turn in that quest honestly, not knowing how the fix would take place... but yes, there should be a vendor for that.

As I mentioned in another thread on this topic, I changed the healer item to proc off of spells and attacks, since an offensive effect procing off a beneficial spell is rather difficult to create (who does the effect target in that case?)

I was thinking in terms of a "healer" proc being something more like the Orb of Truth combined with Manawell sort of thing, so it procs when you cast beneficials.

you could always just do like the thugga quest, and make it so if you delete or vendor the first item u got you can hail the npc again and pick a new one, albiet you have already completed the quest before the fix of course.

did this fix go in already, im at work atm, guess ill find out when i get home

i looked for this other post u mentioned btw, and all i found was one where u said "fixed" but when i was on yesterday raiding, my +2% spell crit item still had a benefical proc. am i missing something?

thanks again for addressing this

It caused quite a few additional problems for GMs as well, so it was by no means an elegant fix. I wish there were an easier way to replace quest rewards, but currently my best option is to simply make sure most people aren't going to need to swap out for a different one.

i was unaware that that fix caused you all so many problems, oh well, it's too bad people take advantage like that but what can you do.

however i am still confused on the fact as to whether or not the items are going to get changed or if they already have been, i chose the +2 spell crit after reading this post assuming u ment to change the effect to proc on hostile spells, do i just need to wait for you to do this, or do i need to petition to get the heal crit one so i can have a hostile spell proc?

Was looking at the rewards and was wondering if it was intentional that there is one with melee double attack and one with melee crit, but none with any ranged version of those stats? From what I have seen so far items have been a lot better with having both melee and ranged stats on them, or equivalent items available and was hoping that this could be looked at and one of the melee options changed to ranged, or a ranged one simply added. Thanks for your time.

I'm not sure why a ranged bonus wasn't added, but I'll look into that on Monday =)
