Justread through the patch notes for the GU50 and wondered what other Pallies thought of how critical mitigation is going to effect us.

from the notes

You can now mitigate critical attacks done to you. Critical attacks work as before but the player can mitigate the amount done to them by having higher agility for melee classes or higher intelligence for priests and mages. In addition, you will now find certain creatures can critical against you. They will use their calculated damage times their critical multiplier to determine their damage.

Paladin specific - Added intelligence to the defensive stance.

I notice that other fighters seem to be getting AGI in their defensive stances.

Im a group-tank Pally. My gear isnt the best, but is good for instances. I enjoy tanking with an equally geared group of friends around the RoK instances, have played my Paladin for almost 4 years and like to think I do a good job.

As we have a lot of stats to juggle, I have never gone to far to increase my AGI, my thinking being that my ward/heals can compensate for the lower avoidance.

Now, critical mitigation is going to be set , primarily, by the AGI stat.

Will a low AGI Pally be at a disadvantage, compared to other fighters?

When re-gearing with TSO will it be an idea to get that AGI up high, and if so, at the expense of what other stats?

It just doesnt make sense, to me, that a character wrapped up in half a tonne of metal armour should have any sort of agility at all

Isn't INT based on the Legioniare, not the Cavalier line?

Problem with making INT = More defense, is that Pallys tend to put their AAs in Agility/Stamina/Wisdom (with a few in Strength, especially if they're soloing or duoing without a haste capper). Putting more into INT, to compensate for the block change, IMO, blows.

Can't be a good melee tank, if Pallys have to put so much in spell crits. Bad enough I rarely get a swing in, since the mobs seem more affected by the spells than a slow swing on one target (with a 40% chance of an auto AoE attack on 4 targets -- I'm a Cavalier).

Just from my experienc as of late with a run as an INT pally, and one with AGI. AGI pawns... using Lance to slow the target down was the single highest debuff on the mob every time i put it on. That means my debuff... that other classes are supposed to excel at, is the top debuff. It slows the target by 41%. THen decrease his mitigation? and now... your joust/trample just destroys the mob. For me, it's the agi line for now. Until i figure out if INT is going to be beneficial in certain areas. I actually sacrificed divine aura for it, but ... BUT... I never knew that a lot of good debuffs, should make it so you don't get into situations where you need divine aura. Problem I have , is i need 75 points in crusader line now, I really want to keep fearless spec for all these new [Removed for Content] instances.. it's insane.

That said, AGI is going to be a very small component of overall critical mitigation; the maximum you can get from AGI alone is 10%. The other 90% has to come from gear.

AGI as a stat really isn't worth worrying too much about. What you want to focus on is gear, adornments and AAs that increases your parry, blocking and shield effectiveness. Paladins will never have the avoidance that a comparably equipped Guardian has, but there are things that can be done to close the gap.
