He was or is a mighty mage, but what happened to him, we know a few from the ingame books about his story, but is still there, somewhere taking vacations or discovering new artifacts?

The 5 books found in his zone pretty much explain in fair detail what happened to him the most in the past, and there are books in Nektulos 3 that explain Rikantus Everling's relation to Varsoon. Both used to be friends at one point... or at least, agreed to help each other research the Void for a common reason. There's nothing more that you learn from that though.

Varsoon is, for all intents and purposes, immortal. His soul has been magically locked to this plane of existance because of his experiments. It was possible to cure his immortality, but by the time he lost his body, it was too late. If I remember his dialogue right, he's searching for a new body to inhabit, but has so far not found anyone suitable.

someone told me, that Varsoon is coming again in TSO expansion, and you can find him in the Void Zone: The Palace of Ferzhul, anyone can confirm this or any pic?, if this is true, what are his plans or is doing in the Void?

Going on my memory of CoI, Varsoon mentions something about us severing his only link to this plane. I'd expect that his Void research with Everling got him sort of stuck between worlds, and our actions pushed him off the fence into the Void.

He may have plans and he may not... It really depends on if he's found himself in Anashti's good graces or not.

Indeed. Varsoon was waiting for someone else to reply to his message. The adventurers showed up instead and Varsoon decided that's acceptable anyway. He wanted to take our bodies for himself and in middle of the fight he got upset and said that we're severing his only link to this plane (Norrath). So that implied that once Varsoon was defeated, he disappeared from Norrath.

Varsoon did had plans, for himself at least, and that was to make himself "normal" again. Be immortal but without those side-effects he had in the past.

That probably coincided with what Anashti represents now. Though, I would agree that that's up to Anashti and if he's in her good graces or not.

Varsoon is indeed the boss of one of the new group instances and a very hard boss to boot. I am not sure if any group was able to beat him during beta (course he was buggy for a while).

He was beaten in beta. He is also apparently the end kill for The Shadow Odyssey quest series.
