Hi everyone

I have a question about racial traits and how they benefit the wizard class. I rolled an Eru wizard yesterday and mucked around and had fun killing things. I notice that Erudites are not played often (well they aren't very attractive) and I wanted to know if their racial traits make any kind of difference. They have several skills that seem like they could be very good for the wizard class.

Casting Fury: Increases Max Power of caster by 2%, Increases Casting Speed of caster by 5%

Clear Mind: Increase Out-of-Combat Power Regeneration Per Tick of caster by 6.0

Erud's Teaching: Increases Damage Spell Crit chance of caster by 2%, Increaes Disruption of caster by 5

Intellect of the Sage: Increases INT of caster by 5.0

There are a few others, one that wards the caster against a certain number of points of all types of damage, and one that increases mitigation of caster vs. magical damage by 5%.

Do these racial traits really made a difference or are they just there for fluff?

lots of those bonuses are given to serveral classes, the highlights that are exclusive to the race though

Erudite - passive 5% cast speed

Arasi/Dark Elf - 30 second temp buff for 10% cast speed, 5% crit with a recast of 5 min. (iirc)

IMO the Erudite one is better but, in the end it really wont have an effect on much. Although it is obnoxious when some races have to obtain 5% cast speed with raid gear, while others get it as a racial trait >< But really just make whatever type of race you want to run around as all day.

They do a little bit of an increase. Nothing game changing I would say. Couple points of INT here, 2% crit there.

I went Gnome for my wizard. Some INT & Power, and a racial de-aggro when the little guy casts too much for his size

Thanks for the replies. I went ahead and rolled a high elf. It might change lol. I like the high elves but they're just so common.

I've never played a caster class seriously. I prefer scout classes but hopefully I'll get a feel for the wizzy and enjoy playing her.
