We were recently discussing the Nights of the Dead event and why the D'Ryil vampires were there instead of vampires from Loping Plains. At first i didnt think too much of it, even the Boss was a D'Ryil vampire and the picture of Cristanos in the haunted house (but no pic of Mayong) it didnt sound any bells it just seemed odd. A few nights ago i was logged into Beta and decided to head over to Loping to see if the NotD event was up in Beta,.. i didnt get far enough to tell. As i arrived there a slew of new quest givers for the zone have appeared in Somborn village, and more then a few of them are Freethinkers.

Some of the quest givers themselves are the usual "do this and recieve a void shard" quest givers, but I came across Marshal Ralem Cristoff, who recognized me from the Peacock club series. He offered me a new Freethinkers quest to slay some Libant (vampiric - higher ups) and to retrieve a comrade (no void shard but instead a new item), but the good Marshall mentioned something... rather odd.

So... maybe im just a bumkin whos not made much of his time to go into the Freeport or Qeynos mage towers.. but which Thex was Marcus again?

I would think that would have to be a Prince of Felwithe. Personally, I don't recall ever hearing that name, but I know the Prince from Neriak that is MIA is Talvus.

EDIT: Found this which is a quote from a post from Vhalen..

Age of Cataclysms

During the early days of this age, the High Council tightened their grip over Felwithe and created a set of laws they called the Tenets of Tunare. These laws were infected with hidden lies that would allow greater control of the city and the destiny of the high elves. As the rest of the world rumbled, the queen was still locked up in the tower and the city stood strong. The crystal golems began to make their appearance after the high council ordered their creation. Prince Marcus, the queen's brother and leader of the Koada'Vie, returned to Felwithe after his long quest for a sacred artifact. He found the city was now corrupted. He crept into the city, employing a secret tunnel used by the Koada'Vie. During his exploration he met his sister and tried to escape to get help. He was captured and is believed to have been executed.

Well ... if that's true ... he probably wasn't executed after all.

It's an early addition of a NPC from TSO. I'm in Beta and I've done his quest. Though I won't spoil what happens, atleast not until after Nov 18th or if I'm asked =P

Koada'Vie was a term for high elf paladins, if I recall correctly (plus, I do recall a secret tunnel in the paladin guildhall in EQ1 Felwithe).

I remember the secret passage in Felwithe too. It led up and around the edges of the city, along the city walls, and up along the hills surrounding the city, if I recall. You could jump down into the moat to get down, but you couldn't get up there without the passage.

Sacred generally mean something of religious significants. Most likely one of the many objects (or creatures) touched by Tunare. Since Marcus is a paladin, and I don't believe high elf paladins had any other choices in EQ1, the artifact being from a different diety would be shocking.

As for the reason for his capture, he has a legitimate claim to the throne and could be a rallying figure in any attempt to retake Felwithe. If he spread tales of the corruption amongst the High Councle and his sister the Queen being held prisoner he could probably raise an army to retake the city.

And if he managed to free himself, it would be natural for him to become an enemy of Mayong Mistmoor.

Does that mean the (bad word that sounds like witch but starts with b)-spawn of Tunare became the queen while remaining locked up in the tower?
