Whew, so I finally finished the editing last night (late late LATE last night), and put the finishing touches on this thing this morning. My original concept for a TSO fan trailer was much, much different, but I like this version a whole lot better.

Enjoy!

http://www.vimeo.com/2146559

I was impressed by your video! It should be on tv advertising EQ2!

And did I see Lucan and Antonia? They are going to be where the citizens of Freeport and Qeynos can actually see them?

Yupp they are questgivers I hear. In Beta I hear they where in TSO areas, but I hear that they will be in their palaces and citadels.

I hope we get to poke around in there...

It is there that you advance the quest with your respective ruler (Antonia or Lucan).

I normally don't spend much time in the fan art forum, and hardly ever post.

I just had to say how very well done this video was. I haven't bought TSO yet. After watching this, I am reconsidering.

Well done.

I just saw this now - I have to say, that was freaking fantastic! The music was great, the build up was great, the screenies and some of the clips. I was on the fence prior to the expansion and even a bit afterwards - if I'd seen that I would have been really excited about it. That's great advertising.

Well done!!

Adding some more thoughts - I just watched the other two trailers you did.

They are fantastic - you've got a GREAT eye for catching a moment and creating drama. A leaf falling in Gfay, for instance - subtle things that play off the intensity of the music. The timing with the music is impeccable (I loved the Kaladim Bugbear shot), the music choice is fantastic - perfect, again, lots of drama and build up. I wanted a bit more story for RoK. The text on the TSO with the intro about Bayle made me want it to be a movie trailer - it made me want to go out and try to get people together to collaborate on a screenplay for an Everquest movie. The airship taking off into the red sky was absolutely perfect. You played very well off the natural light and ambiance in the game - this is something EQII has in spades - dramatic sunsets and sunrises, dark and dreary misty areas, mystical places... it has a lot of ambiance that is not played upon nearly enough. Some of the zones are breathtaking - and need showcasing.

I really want to see more videos - I would LOVE to see your videos and ideas incorporated into marketing for SOE and see an EQII commecial one day with your touch - I really think that if it's not Treasure Chested yet, it should be, and I realllly hope marketing takes a look at it.

The one thing that bothered me a touch about the videos - particularly the older ones - is likely indicative of hardware limitations. The moving camera work is a touch choppy and that sorta jars you out of the smoothness and flow of the whole thing. I think your transitions to those scenes were great - it was just the movement of the camera itself needing a little work - either lag interfering or a little work smoothing it out when you move the camera. There seems to be improvement between the EoF trailer and the TSO so maybe you've upgraded a bit since then? That would be something to improve upon, though.

The official TSO trailer played off EQ1 nostalgia -that's great - but your's invited people to join in and experience a story. This is such a tremendous draw - drama! tragedy, wars, love, loss - this is so compelling.

Again, I want to reiterate - if I'd seen this before the expansion, I'd have been really excited about it. I'd have been telling people about it - that is fantastic marketing. That is what we need. What you're doing is something that works - keep at it!

Thank you all very much for your comments. I only just saw most of them, they made my night. Thank you!

Yeah, the jerkiness of the 'camera' bothers me too. I'd like to think I've managed to get a tiny bit better at 'filming', but as I'm limited to just running a character around the game world as per normal, I can't get things quite as smooth as I'd like. Another problem (which, hopefully, by the time the next expansion is out, I'll have rectified), is that all three of those videos were done on Windows Movie Maker. Which is, ah, a really horribly buggy, buggy program. Once I finished with TSO I swore I'd force myself to get comfortable with either Vegas or Premiere, because toward the end of editing (this happened during the RoK video too), WMM got so unstable that it was locking up and crashing after every little change I made.

The software I'm using is also why there aren't any titles on the RoK video. I really wanted to put them in, and I had it all planned out where I would have them too, but at the time, WMM just wouldn't let me do it in any way that looked good. (See the really horrible text that's on the EoF video). Now that I've got titles that actually look decent, I may take another look at RoK to see if what I had in mind is possible.

In regards to the TSO video in specific, as I said, my original idea was far, far different from what actually happened. I was feeling pretty meh towards the expansion overall, but what caught my attention was when I finally sat down to read all those pre-release lore stories that were getting put up for months beforehand. I'd always ignored them before, and then they really caught my attention. I LIKED the story. And then I got a glimpse of the zone art. That, coupled with finding this particular piece of music, ended up turning into the video.

In any case, that's my rambly behind the scenes info bits. I do plan on doing more videos in the future, but first I want to dig into these other programs so that I can kick Windows Movie Maker in the shins for the last time.

I just now saw this trailer and I am totally amazed by it. What's the name of the song you chose for the TSO Trailer?
