I'll wager a guess that the login server maintenance this morning didn't go perfectly.

I'll also wager this will get moved to the support forums in...

3

2

1

...

Well the thread hasn't been moved (yet), but it's now been nearly 9 full hours since that login server mantenance was to have been concluded ... and I keep getting dumped to my desktop when changing characters, zoning, or just standing at the bank.

Good grief, folks - can anything go according to what you post on the server status page?

Hi All,

From what I was able to gather today the login server maintenance this morning did have one glitch that was fixed at approx 1pm PDT today. The bug was causing some players not to be able to log into at least EQII and I believe other games as well.

Additionally we had a severe network problem on the east coast just recently that we are still investigating the cause of. Although we do know it is unrelated to the maintenance this morning and is not EQII specific as it had an impact on all of the SOE games hosted in that part of the continent.

Because these weren't EQII maintenances the details I have on them are sketchy and at this point we're watching and waiting to see what turns out to have been the problem along with everyone else. (and attempting to be patient because I would like to be out there hounding people for details too but I know they are hard at work).

- K

The relevant east coast networks wouldn't happen to be owned by Sprint or Cogent, would they?

(peering contract issues ... final cut-off on Oct 30, connection temporarily restored Nov 2. While they were disconnected, apparently Sprint was routing connections to Cogent via other Tier1s, but Cogent was blackholing any replies. How long the "temporary" reconnect will last ... depends how cynical you are :p )
